The University of Jos (UNIJOS) has announced the date, time and venue for its matriculation ceremony for newly admitted students in the 2025/2026 academic session.

AE-FUNAI Postpones 14th Matriculation Ceremony Indefinitely

The management of Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike (AE-FUNAI), Ebonyi State, has announced the indefinite postponement of its 14th Matriculation Ceremony earlier scheduled for newly admitted students.

The decision was communicated through an official circular issued by the Office of the Registrar and applies to all arrangements previously announced for the event.

What The Official Circular Says

According to the circular, the matriculation ceremony earlier fixed for 5 February 2026 will no longer hold as planned. The university management stated that the programme has been put on hold, with a new date to be announced later.

EducationNGR also learnt that the postponement directive was issued on the authority of the Vice-Chancellor.

Earlier Date No Longer Valid

The matriculation ceremony had initially been scheduled to take place on 5 February 2026. However, the university has now confirmed that the event will not take place on that date.

When A New Date Will Be Announced

The management noted that a fresh date for the matriculation ceremony will be communicated to students and the wider university community in due course. Until then, members of the public have been advised to rely only on official communication from the university.

Delta State Registration For Tertiary Institutions Entrepreneurship 2026

The Delta State Government has announced the commencement of registration for the Tertiary Institutions Entrepreneurship Programme (TEP), a scheme designed to support students of state-owned universities with viable business ideas.

The programme targets eligible undergraduates and is aimed at promoting entrepreneurship and self-reliance among students in Delta State.

YSU Extends 2025/2026 Registration Deadline

The management of Yobe State University (YSU) has approved an extension of the registration exercise for the 2025/2026 academic session, giving students additional time to complete all required processes.

The update was conveyed through a general circular signed by the University Registrar, Isa Audu Dallari, and dated 2 February 2026. EducationNGR also learnt that the extension is aimed at allowing students to resolve outstanding documentation and avoid unnecessary penalties.

Revised Registration Timelines

YSU has structured the registration exercise into two distinct phases: an extended normal registration period and a late registration period.

Normal Registration Extension

The extended normal registration period commenced on 2 February 2026 and will run until 7 February 2026. Students are expected to complete all registration requirements within this window to avoid additional charges.

Late Registration Period

Students who fail to register during the extension period will be allowed to do so during the late registration phase, which is scheduled from 9 February 2026 to 14 February 2026.

Late Registration Penalty

The university has approved a late registration fee of ₦5,000 for students who complete their registration during the late period. This penalty applies strictly to registrations processed between 9 February 2026 and 14 February 2026.

Registration Portal Closure

YSU management confirmed that the registration portal for the 2025/2026 academic session will be permanently closed on 14 February 2026. No registrations or payments will be accepted after this date.

Important Notice To Students

The circular applies to both fresh and returning students. All affected students are advised to complete their registration within the approved timelines to avoid late fees and complications associated with missing the final deadline.

How to Check NECO 2025 SSCE Results @results.neco.gov.ng

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has released the results of the 2025 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) External, recording an overall pass rate of 71.63 per cent.

The announcement was made by NECO’s Registrar and Chief Executive, Prof. Dantani Ibrahim-Wushishi, during a press briefing at the Council’s headquarters in Minna. EducationNGR also learnt that the results were released 52 days after the conclusion of the final written paper.

Examination Timeline

According to the registrar, the 2025 SSCE External examination was conducted between 26 November 2025 and 13 December 2025. Marking of scripts took place from 5 January 2026 to 21 January 2026.

Candidate Registration And Participation

NECO recorded a total of 96,979 registrations for the examination, comprising 51,823 male candidates and 45,156 female candidates.

Out of those who registered, 95,160 candidates eventually sat for the examination, including 50,785 males and 44,375 females.

Performance In English Language And Mathematics

A total of 93,425 candidates sat for the English Language paper, out of which 73,167 obtained credit and above.

For Mathematics, 93,330 candidates took the paper, with 85,256 candidates earning credit and above.

Five-Credit Performance Breakdown

NECO reported two key outcomes from the results:

  • 68,166 candidates obtained five credits and above, including English Language and Mathematics

  • 82,082 candidates obtained five credits and above, irrespective of English Language and Mathematics

Purpose Of The SSCE External Examination

Prof. Ibrahim-Wushishi explained that the SSCE External examination provides candidates with an additional opportunity to secure admission into universities and other tertiary institutions within and outside Nigeria. He noted that the examination covered 16 subjects and described the result release as part of NECO’s commitment to credible and reliable assessments.

Malpractice Cases And Sanctions

NECO disclosed that 9,016 candidates were booked for various forms of examination malpractice during the exercise, representing an increase from the 6,160 cases recorded in 2024.

As part of disciplinary measures:

  • Five supervisors were recommended for blacklisting for aiding and abetting malpractice, drawn from the Federal Capital Territory, Kano, Adamawa, and Ondo states

  • Four examination centres were recommended for derecognition due to whole-centre malpractice, located in Niger, Yobe, and Kano states

NECO advised candidates to check their results online using their examination registration details.
