Osun State Polytechnic OSPOLY Iree
Osun State Polytechnic, Iree – OSPOLY

Osun State Polytechnic  widely known as OSPOLY  is a state government-owned polytechnic located in Iree, Boripe Local Government Area, Osun State, South-Western Nigeria. Established in 1991 by the Osun State Government under the administration of Governor Isiaka Adeleke, the polytechnic commenced academic activities shortly thereafter with the mission of providing technical and vocational education to the people of Osun State and beyond . It is fully accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and approved by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB). Osun State Polytechnic offers National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes across several faculties, including Management Studies, Engineering, Applied Sciences, Environmental Studies, and Art and Design. The polytechnic is known for its affordable tuition fees, serene learning environment in a historic town, and commitment to producing skilled graduates. The institution operates both full-time and part-time programmes. The current Rector is Dr. Tajudeen O. Odetayo, and the Registrar is Abiodun O. Oloyede .

History of the Institution

The establishment of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, is rooted in the Osun State Government’s vision to create a technical education institution that would serve the growing population of the newly created state. Osun State was carved out of the old Oyo State in August 1991, and later that same year, the polytechnic was established by the state government. The institution began with a temporary take-off site in Iree, a historic town known for its educational legacy, while permanent structures were developed over time.

The polytechnic started with a handful of academic programmes and a modest student population, operating from temporary facilities. Over the years, OSPOLY has expanded its academic offerings, gained full NBTE accreditation for most of its programmes, and received TETFund support for infrastructure development, staff training, library improvement, and ICT advancement. The polytechnic has faced challenges typical of state institutions, including funding constraints and occasional industrial actions, but has remained committed to its core mandate of producing middle-level manpower for the Nigerian economy. The institution now boasts permanent facilities, including lecture theatres, laboratories, workshops, an ICT center, a library, and administrative buildings. OSPOLY has built a reputation for academic excellence and is known as one of the more stable state polytechnics in South-Western Nigeria.

Ambrose Alli University, AAU
Ambrose Alli University – AAU

Ambrose Alli University (AAU) popularly known as AAU Ekpoma  is a state-owned university located in Ekpoma, Esan West Local Government Area, Edo State, Nigeria. Established in 1981 by the first Executive Governor of Bendel State, Professor Ambrose Folorunsho Alli, the university has grown into one of the most significant institutions of higher learning in South-South Nigeria. AAU offers undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, and certificate programmes across thirteen faculties and a College of Medicine, with more than 50 departments. Fully accredited and recognized by the National Universities Commission (NUC), AAU operates its student portal and academic management system through the KOFA platform at aaue.waeup.org. The current Vice-Chancellor is Professor Eunice Eboiserehimen Omonzejie, who assumed office in September 2025.

History of the Institution

The story of Ambrose Alli University is deeply tied to the vision and determination of Professor Ambrose Folorunsho Alli, the first Executive Governor of the old Bendel State (now Edo and Delta States). At a time when the quota system had made federal university admission increasingly difficult for Bendel State students, and when the University of Benin — originally a state institution — had already been taken over by the Federal Government, Governor Alli took the bold step of establishing a new state university to meet the educational aspirations of the rapidly growing population of qualified students in his state.

The university was established in 1981 as Bendel State University, Ekpoma. Following the creation of Edo State in 1991, the institution was renamed Edo State University, Ekpoma. In 1999, the Edo State House of Assembly passed an Act signed into law by Governor Lucky Nosakhare Igbinedion, formally renaming the institution Professor Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, in honour of its visionary founder.

Over four decades, the university has transformed from a modest institution into a comprehensive research and teaching university, housing thirteen faculties, a College of Medicine, over 50 academic departments, several research centres and institutes, and a fully functional e-learning system. A notable milestone in its digital transformation was the deployment of the KOFA web application platform for student administration, pioneered during the tenure of former Vice-Chancellor Professor Ignatius A. Onimawo. In 2025, the foundation stone was laid for a new College of Medicine building, funded by the Edo State Government.

Nnamdi Azikiwe University – UNIZIK/NAU

Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), also known as NAU, is a federal university located in Awka, Anambra State, Nigeria. The university was established as a federal institution by Decree No. 34 of 1991 and has grown into a comprehensive university offering undergraduate, postgraduate and other academic programmes across a wide range of disciplines.

UNIZIK is named after Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, Nigeria’s first indigenous Governor-General and first President. The university’s main campus is in Awka, while its academic and institutional activities extend across several campuses and affiliated institutions. The university describes itself as a federal university of excellence with programmes covering areas such as Arts, Engineering, Health Sciences, Law, Management Sciences, Physical Sciences, Nursing Sciences, Communication and Media Studies, and other fields.

The university currently has a large student population and a broad academic structure. Its official website lists 19 faculties and more than 135 accredited programmes, although the exact programme structure and available courses can change as new programmes are approved or existing programmes are reviewed.

For prospective undergraduate students, admission is available through routes including JAMB UTME and Post-UTME screening, Direct Entry and other approved pathways. History of Nnamdi Azikiwe University

Nnamdi Azikiwe University was established as a federal university by Decree No. 34 of 1991. It was named after Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, one of Nigeria’s foremost nationalist figures and the country’s first indigenous Governor-General and first President.

Before becoming a federal university, the institution had operated under the Anambra State university system. The federal takeover transformed it into a federal institution and gave it a broader national mandate.

Over the years, UNIZIK has developed from a relatively smaller institution into a major Nigerian university with a wide range of academic disciplines. Its programmes now cover professional fields such as Medicine, Law, Pharmacy, Nursing and Engineering alongside Arts, Education, Sciences, Social Sciences, Management and other disciplines.

The university’s current structure reflects its growth in teaching, research and community service. Its official website states that UNIZIK currently has more than 49,000 students, more than 3,850 academic staff and over 135 accredited programmes.

Admission Requirements for UNIZIK

Admission into Nnamdi Azikiwe University is available through UTME, Direct Entry and other approved admission pathways.

UTME Admission

For undergraduate UTME admission, candidates must participate in JAMB UTME and obtain the minimum score applicable to their chosen programme. They must also participate in the university’s Post-UTME screening exercise where required.

UNIZIK’s current admissions information states that candidates generally need at least five relevant O’Level credits, including English Language and Mathematics. The university’s current admissions page states that these can be obtained at one sitting or, subject to the applicable programme requirements, across two sittings.

The university’s General and Academic Regulations also state that undergraduate applicants must meet the approved UTME minimum score, satisfy the university’s Post-UTME assessment and meet the faculty or departmental requirements for their chosen programme.

Direct Entry Admission

Direct Entry candidates must satisfy the university’s general matriculation requirements and possess an approved qualification relevant to their intended course.

Depending on the programme, accepted qualifications can include:

  • A’Level passes
  • JUPEB
  • NCE
  • OND
  • HND
  • A relevant university degree

UNIZIK’s regulations specify different qualification requirements for Direct Entry applicants, including relevant A’Level, JUPEB, NCE, ND, HND or degree qualifications.

UNIZIK Supplementary Admission Form 2026/2027 is Out

Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) has opened applications for supplementary admission for the 2026/2027 academic session. The exercise is for prospective UTME candidates who successfully registered for the university’s Post-UTME screening and have not already been offered admission into any department. The application period runs from 16 September to 27 September 2026.

Applicants should note that they must ensure their O’Level results are properly uploaded to JAMB CAPS to facilitate admission processing. Candidates who are eventually considered for a change of programme should also regularly check the JAMB CAPS Transfer Approval section and accept the transfer when it is posted. Intra-university transfer to another programme is only possible after two years of study.

The supplementary admission exercise covers a wide range of programmes, including Accounting, Engineering, Computer Science, Medicine and Surgery, Nursing, Pharmacy, Law-related and social science programmes, Education, Environmental Sciences, Agriculture, Sciences and other disciplines. Candidates can select up to three eligible programmes, but only one of the selected programmes may be a professional course. Candidates who have already been considered for admission cannot participate in the supplementary exercise.

To apply, candidates should log in to the UNIZIK applicant portal . Those who already purchased the Post-UTME form should open their Dashboard and select the “Supplementary Admission” option. Candidates who have not purchased the Post-UTME form must first add their O’Level results and complete the required Post-UTME application. Applicants should then select their eligible programmes, review and confirm their choices, make the required payment and regularly monitor JAMB CAPS for any transfer offer.

UNIZIK Cut-Off Mark

UNIZIK does not necessarily use one single departmental pass mark for every course. The minimum score can vary according to the faculty or programme.

For example, in the university’s published 2025/2026 Post-UTME screening notice, the pass marks included:

Programme/Faculty Group 2025/2026 Published Pass Mark
Law, Medicine, Medical Laboratory Science, Nursing, Radiography and specified Health Science programmes 200
Agriculture, Environmental Sciences, Education, Technology and Vocational Education and specified programmes 160
Selected Arts, Engineering, Social Sciences, Management, Biosciences and Physical Sciences programmes 180
Affiliate institutions 150

These figures belong specifically to the 2025/2026 screening exercise and should not automatically be presented as the current 2027/2028 departmental cut-off marks.

UNIZIK’s current admissions page states that the UTME score must meet or exceed the UNIZIK cut-off mark applicable to the programme, confirming that programme-specific requirements remain important.

Candidates should therefore check the current admission notice for their particular course before deciding that a particular JAMB score is sufficient.

Please check the school website or latest news below for the newest cut-off mark update.

UNIZIK School Fees

UNIZIK school fees vary according to the student’s programme, level and applicable university charges.

Students should distinguish between acceptance fee, school fees and other charges when planning for admission. The university’s student portal provides facilities for admitted students to check and pay applicable fees and complete other registration procedures.

Because fees can change between academic sessions and may differ between programmes, publishing one general amount as the current UNIZIK school fee can be misleading. Prospective students should confirm the amount generated for their particular admission through the official university portal before making payment.

Students should also avoid paying individuals who claim they can provide cheaper or special fee-payment channels. UNIZIK has specifically warned prospective students about unauthorised persons involved in admission racketeering and advised applicants to rely on official university channels.

Please check the school website or latest news below for the newest school-fee update.

UNIZIK Hostel / Accommodation

UNIZIK provides student accommodation facilities, although available spaces can be limited and accommodation arrangements can vary from one academic session to another.

Students who want university accommodation should follow the official hostel application and allocation procedure when it is announced. Newly admitted students should not assume that admission into the university automatically guarantees a hostel space.

Students who do not obtain university accommodation may consider private accommodation around Awka. Before paying rent, it is advisable to check the distance to campus, transportation cost, electricity, water supply, security and other living expenses.

Please check the school website or latest news below for the newest accommodation update.
