UNIOSUN Wins 16 Medals at WAUG 2026

Osun State University (UNIOSUN) has won 16 medals at the 15th West African Universities Games (WAUG), hosted by Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife. The university secured six silver and 10 bronze medals across taekwondo, chess, tennis and athletics.

According to a statement by UNIOSUN’s Public Relations Officer, Ademola Adesoji, taekwondo accounted for 11 medals, comprising four silver and seven bronze. The university also won one silver and one bronze medal in chess, while tennis contributed one bronze medal.

In athletics, UNIOSUN secured one silver medal in javelin and one bronze medal in triple jump, bringing its overall tally to 16 medals. The performance reflected the participation of the university’s student-athletes across the different sporting events.

Fed Poly Bida SUG Issues Guidelines on Sign-Out Celebrations

The Students’ Union Government (SUG) of the Federal Polytechnic Bida has issued a clarification regarding sign-out activities and celebrations by graduating students. The statement followed discussions between the Union leadership and the Polytechnic management over concerns surrounding the celebrations.

According to the SUG, the school management is not against students organising sign-out celebrations but expects such activities to be carried out in an orderly manner. The major concern raised by the management is the blockage of the school entrance and main road, which affects movement and causes inconvenience to students, staff, and visitors.

The Union advised students to use designated areas or the sides of the school premises for their celebrations rather than obstructing the main entrance or roads. Students were also encouraged to celebrate responsibly and ensure their activities do not disrupt the normal operations of the Polytechnic.

The SUG added that the Director of Security and the Dean of Student Affairs are aware of the arrangements and will continue to monitor the activities to ensure compliance with the school’s guidelines.

Federal Polytechnic Bida Suspends Sign-Out Activities Until Further Notice

The Federal Polytechnic Bida has suspended and prohibited all sign-out activities within the Polytechnic premises following a security alert from the Directorate of Security and Related Matters (DSRM). The directive takes effect after the completion of the ongoing 2025/2026 Second Semester Examinations and will remain in force until further notice.

According to Management, the security report indicated that sign-out gatherings could create opportunities for rival groups to converge, with potential risks including retaliatory attacks, cult-related clashes, unauthorised entry of outsiders, dangerous weapons, panic, property damage and disruption of academic activities. The measure is intended to protect lives and property and ensure the peaceful completion of the examinations.

Management warned that any department, class or student group that violates the directive may have the final examination paper of the affected class or group cancelled, subject to the decision of the appropriate academic authority. The affected students may also be prevented from retaking the examination until Management or the Academic Board determines when it can be conducted.

Heads of Departments have been directed to communicate the suspension to students and ensure compliance. The circular has also been submitted to the Academic Board for consideration and ratification. Management stressed that the directive is a preventive, security-driven measure and urged all students and staff to treat it as urgent and comply strictly.

COOU Opens Supplementary Admission for 2026/2027 Session

Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), Anambra State, has opened applications for its 2026/2027 undergraduate supplementary admission exercise. The opportunity is available to prospective UTME candidates who registered for the university’s Post-UTME screening and wish to be considered for admission into other available departments.

Applications opened on October 17, 2026, at 12 noon and will close on October 23, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Candidates must score at least 150 in the 2026 UTME for non-professional courses and 200 for professional courses marked with an asterisk in the university’s list of programmes. Applicants must also satisfy the minimum entry requirements for their chosen courses and have taken the appropriate UTME subject combination.

COOU Academic Calendar 2026/2027

Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU) has released the academic calendar for the 2026/2027 academic session, outlining dates for registration, lectures, examinations, matriculation and other academic activities. Old students from 200 level to final year are expected to return to campus on Monday, 5 October 2026, while online registration begins on 6 October.

Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), Anambra State, has received approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC) for 16 new academic programmes following the successful completion of the Commission’s resource verification exercise. The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha, announced the development on Thursday, 24 September 2026, during the university’s 35th Inaugural Lecture.

The approval followed an NUC verification exercise conducted at the university to assess the infrastructure, facilities and other resources available for the proposed programmes. With the approval now secured, the university can proceed with the process of admitting students into the newly approved programmes.

The approved programmes include International Relations, Radiography, Software Engineering, Cyber Security, Data Science, Public Health, Project Management, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Transport Management, Taxation, Procurement, Information Technology, Environmental Health Sciences, Optometry and Physiotherapy. ABU 2026/2027 HND, ND and ND II Special Admission Forms

Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, through its Division of Agricultural Colleges (DAC), has commenced the sale of admission screening forms for Higher National Diploma (HND), National Diploma (ND) and ND II Special programmes for the 2026/2027 academic session. The programmes are available at Samaru College of Agriculture, Zaria; College of Agriculture and Animal Science, Mando-Kaduna; and Kabba College of Agriculture, Kogi State.

Available HND programmes include Agricultural Extension and Management, Pest Management Technology, Agricultural and Bio-Environmental Engineering Technology, Animal Health Technology, Animal Production Technology, Crop Production Technology, Horticulture Technology, Agribusiness Management and Pasture and Range Management Technology. ND programmes include Agricultural Technology, Science Laboratory Technology, Irrigation Agronomy Technology, Fisheries Technology, Animal Health and Production Technology, Statistics, Computer Science and Horticultural Technology. Most programmes run for two years, with availability depending on the college.

HND applicants must possess a National Diploma with at least a lower credit in a relevant accredited agricultural programme and provide evidence of completing the mandatory one-year industrial training. Candidates with an ND pass may be considered after two years of relevant work experience. Applicants must also meet the required O’Level conditions, while candidates from other institutions must submit their academic transcripts. ND applicants must have five relevant O’Level credit passes, including English Language and Mathematics, in not more than two sittings, and select their preferred programmes through JAMB. ABU Postgraduate Admission Form 2026/2027

Following the release of the 2026 NECO results, candidates who have not registered for the screening exercise, as well as those whose registration was affected by O’Level deficiencies, are advised to complete or update their applications through the ABU portal at https://portal.abu.edu.ng/forms/putme.

The second phase of the screening exercise will run from Monday, September 28 to Wednesday, September 30, 2026, after which the admission process will commence. ABU Suspends Implementation of Increased School Charges

The management of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, has suspended the implementation of its recently revised student charges pending further consultations with the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) and other relevant stakeholders. The decision follows additional concerns and requests raised by student representatives regarding the proposed charges.

According to the university management, the review of student charges was prompted by the rising cost of providing essential services and the gap between available resources and expenditure. History of the Institution

Sokoto State University was established in 2009 during the administration of former Governor Aliyu Wamakko to provide more university admission opportunities for students in Sokoto State and surrounding regions.

Since inception, the university has expanded steadily in academic programmes, student population, staffing, research centres, and infrastructure. It now operates as one of the leading young state universities in North-West Nigeria.

The university has also developed centres for entrepreneurship, mathematical studies, research development, and historical studies including the Center for the Study of Sokoto Caliphate.

Sokoto State University (SSU), through its Consultancy Services Unit (SOSUCONS), has announced the sale of application forms for admission into its Part-Time Certificate, Diploma and Undergraduate Degree programmes for the 2026/2027 academic session. The application process is open to members of the public interested in studying through the university’s part-time programmes.

Online sales of the application forms will begin on Monday, 28 September 2026. Interested applicants are expected to complete their applications through the designated online portal and should provide accurate information during the registration process.

SSU Diploma Admission Form 2026/2027 is Out

Sokoto State University (SSU) has announced admission into 15 diploma programmes for the 2026/2027 academic session. Applications will open on Monday, 28 September 2026 and close on Sunday, 8 November 2026. All the programmes will be offered on a part-time basis, with classes scheduled from Friday to Sunday each week.

The available programmes include Diploma in Accounting, Arabic, Computer Sciences, Criminology and Security Studies, Data Science, Educational Management, Environmental Impact Assessment, Estate Management and Evaluation, Ethnobotany, Guidance and Counselling, Hydrology and Water Resources Management, Legislative Studies, Mass Communication, Plants Science and Biotechnology, and Public Policy and Administration.

Applicants are required to have four relevant O’Level credits, including English Language and Mathematics. The application fee is ₦6,000, excluding transaction charges. SSU Certificate in Arabic Admission Form 2026/2027 is Out

Sokoto State University (SSU) has opened applications for admission into its Certificate in Arabic programme for the 2026/2027 academic session. Sokoto State University (SSU) has released its first batch of candidates admitted into various undergraduate programmes for the 2026/2027 academic session. Sokoto State University Registration for New Students 2026/2027

Sokoto State University (SSU) has announced that registration for newly admitted students for the 2026/2027 academic session will commence on Monday, 2 November 2026. Registration will take place at MPH 2, the university campus along Birnin Kebbi Road, Sokoto.

Admitted students are required to report with the original copies and photocopies of their documents, including their JAMB admission letter, original UTME result slip, online screening acknowledgement slip, SSCE certificate and local government letter of indigene. Direct Entry candidates must also provide their A-Level results, such as Diploma or NCE certificates.

Other required documents include a birth certificate or declaration of age, primary school leaving certificate and six recent passport photographs with a red background. Students should ensure that all documents are available for verification during registration.

Candidates whose WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, NBAIS or other SSCE certificates are not yet available may present a statement of result from their former school or an online copy. Such results must be supported with the relevant examination scratch card for verification at the registration venue.
