UNN Gets NUC Approval for 12 New Academic Programmes

The University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), has secured approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC) to commence 12 new full-time undergraduate programmes from the 2026/2027 academic session.

The newly approved programmes cut across Engineering, Nuclear Science, Health, Education and Information Technology. They include Automotive Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Nuclear Science, Pharmacology, Optometry, Health Care Administration and Hospital Management, Educational Management, Cyber Security, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Software Engineering and Information Technology.

UNICROSS Merit Admission List 2026/2027

The University of Cross River State (UNICROSS) has released its 2026/2027 admission list for candidates who participated in the university’s admission screening exercise. Candidates can now check their admission status to confirm whether they have been offered provisional admission.

The list has been uploaded through the JAMB Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS). Candidates should visit JAMB eFacility Portal and log in with their registered email address and password. From the dashboard, select “Check Admission Status”, then click “Access my CAPS” and proceed to “Admission Status” to view the admission decision.

Candidates who have been offered admission should accept or reject the offer by sending ACCEPT or REJECT as an SMS to 55019 or 66019 using the phone number linked to their JAMB profile. Candidates have four weeks to respond, while those without access to their registered phone number should visit a JAMB-accredited centre. After accepting the offer, candidates are advised to print their JAMB admission letter for use during clearance and registration.

Candidates checking CAPS with a mobile phone may need to use Google Chrome and enable the “Request desktop site” option, as the full admission status menu may not display properly on mobile view. Candidates who have secured admission are congratulated and advised to continue monitoring UNICROSS and JAMB channels for further registration instructions.

UNICROSS Notice to Students With Unregistered Courses Due to Late NELFUND Remittance

The University of Cross River State (UNICROSS) has directed students who could not complete their first-semester course registration due to late remittance of their NELFUND fees to submit their details for necessary action. The directive was contained in a notice dated September 23, 2026, issued by the Office of the Dean of Student Affairs.

According to the university, the affected students are those who were unable to complete their course registration and, as a result, cannot access their semester results. Students concerned are required to submit their details either online through the designated Google Form shared via official student platforms or physically at the appropriate Student Affairs Office.

For physical submission, students are to visit the following offices: Calabar Campus – Office of the Student Affairs Officer; Okuku Campus – Office of the Student Affairs Officer; and Ogoja Campus – Office of the Student Affairs Officer, Ogoja Campus. Students submitting online are expected to complete the Google Form provided through the university’s official student communication channels.

UNICROSS stated that all affected students should comply with the directive between Wednesday, September 23 and Tuesday, September 29, 2026. Students who fall within the affected category are advised to submit their details within the stipulated period to enable the university to take the necessary action regarding their course registration and access to results.

Joseph Ayo Babalola University  widely known as JABU  is a private Christian university located in Ikeji-Arakeji, Osun State, South-West Nigeria. Established in 2006 by the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), JABU was named after Apostle Joseph Ayo Babalola — the founding father of the CAC and one of Nigeria’s most revered Christian revivalists. JABU is a member of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN), the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), and the Association of African Business Schools (AABS). History of the Institution

Joseph Ayo Babalola University was established in 2006 by the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), one of Nigeria’s largest and oldest Pentecostal denominations. The university is named after Apostle Joseph Ayo Babalola (1904 — 1959), the founding father of the CAC and a celebrated figure in Nigerian Christian history, known for his extraordinary revival missions and miraculous healings across Nigeria and West Africa in the 1930s.

From its founding, JABU distinguished itself by integrating entrepreneurship education into every academic programme — a model that earned it the designation of Nigeria’s first entrepreneurial university. This approach ensures that graduates are not only academically qualified but are also equipped with practical, market-ready skills. Every student must complete a skills acquisition programme at the university’s Skills Acquisition Centre, gaining a tangible vocational or entrepreneurial competency alongside their degree.

Over its nearly two decades of operation, JABU has grown steadily — expanding its colleges, strengthening postgraduate programmes, and building modern academic infrastructure in the serene environment of Ikeji-Arakeji along the Ilesa-Akure Road in Osun State. JABU Announces 20th Anniversary and 17th Convocation Ceremony

Joseph Ayo Babalola University (JABU), Ikeji Arakeji, Osun State, has announced plans for its 20th Anniversary and 17th Convocation Ceremony. The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olasebikan Alade Fakolujo, on behalf of the university’s governing bodies, management and staff, has invited members of the public to the series of anniversary and academic activities.

The celebration will feature the conferment of honorary degrees and the award of higher and first degrees to graduating students. Activities will begin on Monday, October 12, 2026, with an exhibition and documentary, followed by a campus tour, Chancellor’s Dinner and Award, Vice-Chancellor’s interactive session, Students’ Union Day, trade and technology fair, Alumni Day and other programmes.

The 17th Convocation Lecture is scheduled for Thursday, October 22, 2026, at the Oba Oladele Olashore Auditorium, while the main convocation ceremony will take place on Friday, October 23, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the same venue. The anniversary programme will continue with the Anniversary Thanksgiving on Sunday, October 25.

The university’s anniversary and convocation activities will bring together students, graduates, alumni, staff, parents, invited guests and members of the public. The programme is expected to mark 20 years of JABU’s establishment while celebrating the achievements of the institution and its graduating students.

JABU Resumption Notice for 2026/2027 Academic Session

Joseph Ayo Babalola University (JABU) has announced its resumption arrangements for the 2026/2027 academic session. The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olasebikan Alade Fakolujo, has welcomed students, staff, parents and other members of the university community to the new academic session.

According to the notice, fresh students (freshers) are expected to resume on Monday, 21 September 2026. Newly admitted students should take note of the date and make the necessary arrangements to begin their academic activities as scheduled.

Returning students are expected to resume on Saturday, 26 September 2026. The university has also scheduled its First Semester Parents Forum for Saturday, 26 September 2026, giving parents an opportunity to engage with the university as the new academic session begins.

Adventist College of Nursing Sciences, Jengre  widely known as ACONSJ  is a private Christian nursing college nestled in the serene and beautiful savanna valley immediately below the rolling escarpment hills that form the Plateau Highlands at Jengre, Bassa Local Government Area, Plateau State, North-Central Nigeria. The college is a member of the worldwide network of over 80 nursing training institutions — four of which are in Nigeria — owned and operated by the Seventh-Day Adventist (SDA) Church to provide holistic health care education. ACONSJ was issued its charter licence (accreditation) by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) on 30th October 2023, and opened its gates on 3rd December 2023 to admit 95 eager pioneer students. It is one of the newest nursing colleges in Nigeria and is notable for its low fees compared to other nursing schools in Nigeria, high success rate in NMCN external examinations, and its strong spiritual, academic, and professional values. The college’s motto is Excellence, Service, Godliness. The pioneer Provost is Elder Emmanuel Adetunji Oyedele.

History of the Institution

The history of Adventist College of Nursing Sciences, Jengre is one of perseverance, sacrifice, and faith over nearly five decades. The story begins in 1975, when the Northern Europe-West Africa Division of the SDA Church posted Nursing Sister Elfrida Yvonne Eurick from the Adventist School of Nursing Kwahu, Ghana, to SDA Hospital Jengre to establish a School of Nursing. However, the Federal Military Government of Nigeria nationalised voluntary agency schools and hospitals all over the country including Jengre, which was taken over in October 1976.

Undaunted, Sister Eurick — who was distinguished as the best nurse tutor in Kwahu — remained in Jengre for years, hoping things would change. While waiting, she and Dr. (Mrs) Inger Karlman pioneered the concept of rural primary health care clinics, which was mostly unknown in Nigeria at that time. Three months after the government takeover, they opened the first clinic at Ramin Kura, Kaduna State on 1st January 1977, followed by others at Warsa and Ramin Kura. Sister Eurick continued to invest in training local volunteer health workers and young people in various fields, including two individuals she would never see graduate: Yohanna U. Harry, whom she helped to teachers’ training college, and Manoah Yohanna, whom she was sponsoring to train as a medical doctor.

Sister Eurick met her untimely end in a motor accident on Monday, 30th January 1984. Her legacy, however, lived on powerfully. Harry joined the gospel ministry and eventually became the President of the Northern Nigeria Conference of the SDA Church. Manoah, whose medical education was truncated by Sister Eurick’s death, continued to champion the vision. Together, Harry and Manoah resolved to actualize Sister Eurick’s dream of establishing a College of Nursing in Jengre.

Subsequent medical directors of Jengre SDA Hospital — notably Dr. Akin Obisanya and Dr. Randell Skau — also kept striving towards this goal. When the college was eventually granted NMCN accreditation on 30th October 2023, it opened its doors on 3rd December 2023. Pastor Harry became the pioneer Chairman of the Governing Board and Manoah Yohanna became the pioneer Registrar. Miss Sheerah Bamnas Laiya was the first student to enrol. From his base in the United States, Dr. Skau donated the funds to lay the foundation of a female students’ hostel, while Dr. Obisanya contributed an equipped vocational training centre for entrepreneurship and innovation education.

NBTE accreditation (for ND and HND programmes) was underway and expected to be completed by October 2025, which will enable ACONSJ to offer ND and HND nursing training in addition to its current NMCN-accredited programmes.

Azman University Receives Full Licence to Operate as Private University

Azman University has received its Full Statutory Licence from the Federal Government of Nigeria through the National Universities Commission (NUC), officially confirming the institution as a fully licensed private university.

The licence was presented on Tuesday, 22 September 2026, at the NUC Office of the Executive Secretary in Abuja. It was received on behalf of the university by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Fatima Batul Mukhtar, and the University Vice President, Alh. Mustapha Abdulmunaf Yunusa.

The approval followed the successful completion of the university’s probationary period, which began after its initial licence was granted in 2023. The NUC validation exercise assessed the institution’s academic programmes, faculty capacity, governance structure, infrastructure and quality assurance systems.

The full licence was issued through the Federal Ministry of Education and the NUC under the leadership of the Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, and the NUC Executive Secretary, Prof. Abdullahi Yusufu Ribadu. Federal University Lokoja (FULokoja) is a federal government-owned university located in Lokoja, Kogi State, Nigeria. The university was established in 2011 and commenced academic activities in the 2012/2013 academic session with two faculties and 11 academic programmes. History 

Federal University Lokoja was established as one of Nigeria’s federal universities created to expand access to university education and strengthen higher education in different parts of the country. Academic activities began in the 2012/2013 session with just two faculties: the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences and the Faculty of Science.

The university’s pioneer programmes included English Language and Literary Studies, History and International Studies, Economics, Political Science, Geography, Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics and Geology. From this relatively small beginning, FULokoja has grown into a larger institution with a wider range of academic programmes and supporting academic and administrative structures.

The university has continued to expand its academic offerings. In June 2026, the National Universities Commission approved 14 additional undergraduate programmes for FULokoja, including Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security, Software Engineering, Data Science, Psychology, Social Work, Actuarial Science, Agricultural Economics, Fisheries and Aquaculture, and Broadcasting Journalism.

These new programmes form part of the university’s expansion for the 2026/2027 academic session and provide additional options for candidates interested in technology, business, social sciences, agriculture and other emerging fields.

FULOKOJA Post-UTME/DE Admission Form 2026/2027

Federal University Lokoja (FULOKOJA) has commenced its 2026/2027 Post-UTME and Direct Entry screening exercise for candidates seeking undergraduate admission. The screening portal opened on Tuesday, 9 June 2026, and applicants are required to use their valid 2026 JAMB registration numbers to access the FULOKOJA Post-UTME Screening Portal.

UTME candidates must have scored at least 160 in the 2026 UTME, selected FULOKOJA as their first-choice institution, and be at least 16 years old by 30 September 2026. Direct Entry candidates must have applied through JAMB. Applicants are also required to upload their O’Level results on the JAMB portal before completing the screening process. Candidates with awaiting results may begin registration but must complete the upload before participating in the online screening.

Applicants are required to update their biodata and, where applicable, previous academic records, generate a Remita invoice and pay the ₦2,000 Post-UTME screening fee, then select their preferred programme and provide the required O’Level details. Candidates must have at least five relevant O’Level credit passes in not more than two sittings, while Nursing Science, Medical Laboratory Science, Law and Pharmaceutical Science require the five relevant credits in one sitting. The FULOKOJA Post-UTME/DE screening exercise will close by midnight on Friday, 2 October 2026. FULOKOJA Student Wins ₦2 Million KINHUB Hackathon Prize

Emmanuel Clinton Adeiza, a 400-level Geology student of the Federal University Lokoja (FULOKOJA), and his teammates in Team SafeRetriev have won ₦2 million in the Education Technology category of the Kogi Innovation Hub (KINHUB) Hackathon Challenge. The team emerged first among five teams that competed in the EdTech category.

Team SafeRetriev developed a solution aimed at addressing challenges relating to the access, preservation and verification of academic credentials. The team included students from the Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), with Adeiza serving as the only FULOKOJA representative.

The hackathon brought together students from FULOKOJA, CUSTECH, Prince Abubakar Audu University and Kogi State University, who competed across four technology categories: Education Technology (EdTech), Agriculture Technology (AgriTech), Health Technology (HealthTech) and Government Technology (GovTech).

The Department of Geology congratulated Adeiza and Team SafeRetriev on the achievement, noting his contribution to a project outside his core discipline. The department also acknowledged the support of academic and non-academic staff and the university management in promoting student development and practical applications of knowledge.

Federal University Lokoja also congratulated Adeiza and the entire SafeRetriev team on their success in the KINHUB Hackathon Challenge.

FULOKOJA 46th Inaugural Lecture

The Federal University Lokoja (FULOKOJA), Kogi State, has announced its 46th Inaugural Lecture, with members of the university community and the general public invited to attend the event.

The lecture, titled “Entrepreneurial Leadership through Entrepreneurial Education and Empowerment: Building an Entrepreneurial Economy in VUCA World,” will be delivered by Professor John Olatunji Alabi, a Professor of Entrepreneurship and Corporate Strategy.

FULOKOJA Reschedules 10th Convocation Ceremony

Federal University Lokoja (FULOKOJA), Kogi State, has announced the rescheduling of its 10th Convocation Ceremony. The university said the adjustment became necessary due to circumstances beyond its control, particularly the Kogi State Local Government Elections, which coincide with the original convocation dates.

The ceremony, initially scheduled to hold from Monday, 12 October to Saturday, 17 October 2026, will now take place from Monday, 9 November to Saturday, 14 November 2026. The venue remains the university’s Permanent Site, Felele, Lokoja, Kogi State.

Federal Polytechnic Oko Notice on 75% Lecture Attendance Policy

The Federal Polytechnic Oko, Anambra State, has reminded students and lecturers of its policy requiring a minimum of 75% attendance at scheduled lectures. The directive was contained in an internal memo issued by the Office of the Registrar on 12 October 2026, with reference number FPO/RG/273/VOL.II/125.

According to the memo, students must attend at least 75% of lectures for each course to qualify to sit for the examinations. Students who fail to meet the attendance requirement will be barred from taking examinations in the affected courses. Lecturers are also required to attend and deliver their scheduled lectures as timetabled.

The polytechnic management has resolved to enforce the policy strictly, warning that lecturers and students who violate the directive will face appropriate disciplinary action in accordance with the institution’s regulations and the Public Service Rules.
