FCT College of Education, Zuba  widely known as FCT COE Zuba or COE Zuba  is a Federal Government-owned College of Education located in Zuba, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, North-Central Nigeria . Established in 1986 as a teachers’ college, it was upgraded to a College of Education in 1996 following a committee’s recommendation due to increased population and enrollment in the FCT . The college experienced a temporary closure in 2000 but was reopened in 2001, and it subsequently became a federal institution under President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan . The college is funded and managed by the FCT Administration through the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE). FCE Yola
Federal College of Education, Yola – FCE Yola

Federal College of Education, Yola  widely known as FCE Yola  is a Federal Government-owned College of Education located in Yola, Adamawa State, North-East Nigeria . Established in 1974 as an Advanced Teachers College, it was upgraded to a Federal College of Education in 1989 . The college is funded and managed by the Federal Government through the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE). FCE Yola offers NCE programmes, degree programmes formerly in affiliation with the University of Maiduguri, and  as of 2025/2026  its own autonomous degree programmes under the Federal Government’s Dual Mandate policy . The current Provost is Dr. Mohammed Usman Degereji (also spelled Dagereji) . The college’s motto is “Commitment to Teaching, Integrity in Learning and Dignity in Service” .

History of the Institution

The Federal College of Education, Yola was established in 1974 as an Advanced Teachers College . The college is located between Yola town, the capital city of Adamawa State, and Jimeta, where the seat of government is situated, giving it a cultural, social, and geographical advantage as a bridge between the two cities .

In 1989, the institution was upgraded to a Federal College of Education . Since 2014, the college had been running degree programmes in affiliation with the University of Maiduguri .

A landmark development came in December 2025, when the National Universities Commission (NUC) granted approval for FCE Yola to commence autonomous degree programmes under the Dual Mandate arrangement . FCE Yola is among 15 Federal Colleges of Education selected by the Federal Government to run full degree programmes independently, without affiliation to any university .

The NUC approved 38 degree programmes for the college, but management announced that only 14 courses will officially commence in the first phase for the 2025/2026 academic session . The admission process for the 2026/2027 academic year will mark the first set that the college will run degree programmes without affiliation .

The Provost has appealed to the Federal Government to harmonise NCE with degree programmes so that both can run as a single continuous programme .

FCET Omoku
Federal College of Education (Technical), Omoku – FCET Omoku

Federal College of Education (Technical), Omoku  widely known as FCET Omoku or FCE(T) Omoku  is a Federal Government-owned College of Education located in Omoku, Rivers State, South-South Nigeria . Established in 1989, the college is dedicated to preparing students to become teachers who meet international standards . The college is funded and managed by the Federal Government through the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE). FCET Omoku operates under the Dual Mandate Policy, empowering it to award both NCE certificates and degree qualifications in affiliation with two prestigious Nigerian universities — the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) and the University of Uyo (UNIYO) . The current Acting Provost is Dr. Ndu Nwamadioke Felix Amadike . The college’s motto is technical and vocational excellence for national development.

History of the Institution

The Federal College of Education (Technical), Omoku was established in 1989 by the Federal Government of Nigeria . The college was created to address the need for qualified technical and vocational teachers in the Nigerian educational system, particularly in the South-South geopolitical zone.

The institution is located in Omuku town (also known as Omoku) in the Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State, South-South Nigeria. It was originally established as a mono-technic institution before evolving into a full-fledged College of Education focusing on technical teacher training.

The college maintains affiliation agreements with the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) and the University of Uyo (UNIYO) for its degree programmes .

The current Provost is Emmanuel Ikenyiri, who was reappointed during President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration in 2022 to serve as the 7th Substantive Provost of the College . In 2026, the college is being led by the Acting Provost, Dr. Ndu Nwamadioke Felix Amadike .

A landmark development came with the commencement of the Dual Mandate Programme signed into law in 2023 by President Bola Tinubu. This implies that fresh students admitted into the NCE programme will acquire an NCE Certificate at the end of three years and proceed for a Bachelor of Education Degree (B.Ed.) without requiring a separate JAMB registration . With the commencement of the Dual Mandate, the college has expanded its programmes from 19 degree programmes to 34 in diverse areas of studies .
