Rivers State University (RSU), Port Harcourt, has released the approved academic calendar for the 2026/2027 academic session. The calendar contains the scheduled dates for registration, lectures, examinations, orientation, matriculation, convocation and other major academic activities for undergraduate students.

RSU Admission Clearance 2026/2027 Begins

Rivers State University (RSU), Nkpolu-Oroworukwo, Port Harcourt, has commenced the admission clearance exercise for candidates offered provisional admission for the 2026/2027 academic session. The exercise is specifically for candidates who have accepted their admission offers on the JAMB Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS).

Eligible candidates are required to begin their clearance through the university’s Candidate Admission Portal at https://apply.rsu.edu.ng. Candidates should log in using their JAMB Registration Number and other required details, complete the clearance process and pay the prescribed acceptance and preliminary fees.

As part of the clearance process, candidates are required to upload clear copies of their JAMB Admission Letter, JAMB UTME Result Slip, O’Level results, Birth Certificate or Declaration of Age, and Local Government Identification. Candidates with two O’Level sittings must upload both results. They are also required to download and complete the relevant forms on the portal for physical faculty clearance.

The clearance exercise will run from September 23 to November 30, 2026. Candidates are advised to complete the process within the stipulated period, as failure to do so may affect their admission. All submitted information must correspond with candidates’ JAMB records, while false or altered documents may lead to withdrawal of admission. FUHSI Announces Resumption Date for 2026/2027 Academic Session

The Federal University of Health Sciences, Ila-Orangun (FUHSI), Osun State, has announced the official resumption date for the commencement of the 2026/2027 academic session. The date was approved and released by the university management in an official announcement.

FUDUTSE 2026/2027 Admission Guidelines for Newly Approved Programmes

The Federal University Dutse (FUDUTSE) has invited eligible candidates who participated in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) to apply for admission into its newly approved undergraduate programmes for the 2026/2027 academic session. Admission is subject to final approval and the availability of the programmes on the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS).

Applicants must have selected FUDUTSE as their first-choice institution or change their institution to the university through JAMB, where applicable. They must also meet the prescribed UTME cut-off mark, possess at least five relevant O’Level credit passes, including English Language and Mathematics where required, in not more than two sittings, and satisfy the specific subject combinations and other admission requirements for their chosen programmes. Participation in the online screening exercise is compulsory.

The screening fee is ₦3,000, excluding applicable bank charges. Candidates should visit the FUDUTSE Post-UTME portal, log in with their UTME registration number and other required details, update their personal information, select an eligible programme, generate a Remita Retrieval Reference (RRR), and make payment. Federal University Dutse Bursar and University Librarian Vacancies

The Federal University Dutse (FUD), Jigawa State, has announced internal and external vacancies for the positions of Bursar and University Librarian. The announcement was published in the university’s Official Weekly Newsletter, Volume 4, Number 126, dated 12 October 2026.

Applicants for the Bursar position must possess at least a first degree in Accounting and be at the rank of Deputy Bursar or its equivalent, with at least 15 years of uninterrupted public service experience, including 10 years in the university system. Candidates for University Librarian must hold a first degree and a PhD in Library and Information Science, be at the rank of Reader/Deputy University Librarian or above, and have at least 15 years of public service experience, including 10 years in the university library system. Both positions require relevant professional qualifications, ICT proficiency, integrity and an NYSC discharge or exemption certificate. FUDUTSE Expels 12 Students, Rusticates 5 Over Various Offences

The Federal University Dutse (FUDUTSE) has approved disciplinary sanctions against 22 students following consideration of the report of the 20th meeting of the Students’ Disciplinary Committee. The decisions were approved by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ahmad Mohammed Gumel.

According to the university’s official weekly newsletter, 12 students were expelled after being found guilty of offences including criminal conspiracy, armed robbery, robbery, cult-related activities, phone theft and drug abuse on campus. The disciplinary action covers students involved in different cases considered by the committee.

A further five students were rusticated, with four receiving a two-semester rustication and one receiving a one-semester sanction. Their cases involved attempted sexual assault and cyberbullying. Another five students received warning letters over offences including off-campus drug abuse, attempted sexual assault and cyberbullying.

The university urged students to take university regulations and their academic responsibilities seriously and to avoid conduct that could attract disciplinary action. Students were also advised to uphold discipline both on and off campus and comply with the institution’s rules and regulations.

FUDUTSE Gets NUC Approval for 30 New Academic Programmes

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved the establishment of the Faculty of Law at Federal University Dutse (FUDUTSE) and granted approval for the university to commence 30 new academic programmes from the 2026/2027 academic session. The approval covers full-time study and was conveyed in a letter dated 11 September 2026, signed by the NUC Director of Academic Planning, Abubakar M. Girei.

The newly approved programmes span Law, Science and Technology, Allied Health Sciences, Education and Arts, as well as postgraduate studies. They include L.L.B. Common and Islamic Law, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Information Systems, Science Laboratory Technology, Community Health, Medical Laboratory Science, Physiotherapy, Radiography, Optometry, Human Nutrition and Dietetics, and several education programmes.

The approval also covers postgraduate programmes in areas such as Forestry and Wildlife, Accounting, Treasury and Finance, Banking and Finance, and Information Technology, alongside master’s programmes in Banking and Finance and Accounting and Finance. The university said the expansion will broaden its academic offerings and strengthen training in areas linked to technology, science, healthcare and other workforce needs.

Meanwhile, admission into the MBBS programme will not be conducted for the 2026/2027 academic session due to ongoing restructuring and adjustments within the College of Medicine and Health Sciences. The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ahmad Mohammed Gumel, said the newly approved programmes are intended to provide students with relevant knowledge and skills for changing societal and industry demands.

UNILAG Human Kinetics Diploma Admission 2026/2027 is Out

The University of Lagos (UNILAG), through its Human Resources Development Centre (HRDC) in collaboration with the Department of Human Kinetics and Health Education, has opened applications for the two-year part-time Diploma in Human Kinetics and Health Education for the 2026/2027 academic session. The programme is designed for active sportsmen and women and successful candidates will receive a Diploma in Human Kinetics and Health Education.

Applicants must have five O’Level credits in WASSCE, NECO or GCE at one sitting, including Mathematics, English Language, Biology and another Science subject. UNILAG Toxicology Screening for New Students, 2026/2027

The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has announced the toxicology screening exercise for newly admitted UTME and Direct Entry candidates for the 2026/2027 academic session. The exercise is mandatory under the university’s drug-testing policy and must be completed before candidates proceed with admission screening and registration.

The screening will run from Monday, 26 October, to Friday, 18 December 2026, from Mondays to Fridays, between 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. The venue is the Jelili Adebisi Omotola Multipurpose Hall, UNILAG, Akoka. Candidates are required to book an appointment by completing the toxicology screening Google Form and printing the appointment slip sent to their registered email addresses.

Candidates must also bring proof of payment for the toxicology test to the screening venue. To make payment, visit the UNILAG Student Portal and log in using the JAMB registration number as the username and the surname in lowercase as the default password. Candidates should change the default password when prompted and complete the Biodata section.

UNILAG, University of Birmingham Launch Two Joint Postgraduate Programmes

The University of Lagos (UNILAG) and the University of Birmingham, United Kingdom, have launched two joint postgraduate programmes in artificial intelligence and digital communications. The programmes are expected to commence in September 2027, following their launch by the Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa.

The courses are the MSc in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Data Technologies and the MA in Digital Media and Communications. They are designed to address emerging skills needs in technology, innovation, entrepreneurship and digital communication. Both universities are also exploring the possibility of extending the collaboration to relevant undergraduate degree programmes.

Dr Alausa described the partnership as part of the Federal Government’s efforts to expand access to international academic opportunities within Nigeria. Isa Mustapha Agwai Poly Announces Maiden Summer Programme 2025/2026

The Isa Mustapha Agwai I Polytechnic (IMAP), Lafia, Nasarawa State, has announced its maiden Summer Programme (Third Semester) for the 2025/2026 academic session. The programme was approved by the Polytechnic’s Academic Board at its 16th Regular Meeting.

The Summer Programme is designed for students with outstanding failed courses from the first and/or second semester examinations of the 2025/2026 session. It will allow eligible students to retake failed courses, clear carry-over backlogs and make progress towards graduation. Students cannot use the programme to retake courses they have already passed.

The programme will run for six weeks, comprising four weeks of lectures, revision and academic activities followed by two weeks of examinations. Registration and course finalisation will take place from October 19 to 23, 2026, while lectures and revision are scheduled for October 26 to November 13. Examinations will hold from November 16 to 27, followed by marking and results processing, with the Summer Programme results scheduled for release on December 11, 2026.

Eligible students are required to pay 50% of the applicable 2025/2026 school fees, in addition to ₦5,000 for each failed course or paper registered. The Polytechnic advised students to confirm their outstanding courses, register only for eligible failed courses, make payments through approved channels and participate fully in the scheduled academic activities and examinations.

AFUED Resumption Date for Newly Admitted Students for 2026/2027 Session

Adeyemi Federal University of Education (AFUED) has announced 4 December 2026 as the resumption date for newly admitted students for the 2026/2027 academic session. Screening of newly admitted students is scheduled to begin on 23 November and end on 4 December 2026.

According to the university’s approved academic calendar, the session commenced on 11 October 2026, with teaching orientation activities for 300- and 400-level students. Teaching practice was scheduled to begin on 19 October, while orientation for the Students’ Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) took place on 20 October, ahead of the programme’s commencement on 2 November 2026.

For regular undergraduate students, first-semester lectures and registration will begin on 4 January 2027. Registration will close on 24 January, while late registration with a penalty will run from 25 January. A further late-registration period is scheduled for 8–21 February 2027. Lectures will end on 19 March, followed by revision from 22 to 26 March. First-semester examinations will take place from 29 March to 23 April 2027.

The second semester will begin in May 2027, with students expected to return to residence on 9 May and lectures and registration commencing on 10 May. Registration will close on 28 May, while late registration will run from 30 May to 11 June. Lectures will end on 16 July, followed by revision from 19 to 23 July and examinations from 26 July to 20 August 2027. AFUED SIWES Orientation Programme 2026

The Adeyemi Federal University of Education (AFUED) has announced its 2026 Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) orientation programme for the academic session. The programme is scheduled to hold on Tuesday, 20 October 2026, at the Obongawan Lecture Theatre.

The orientation will commence at 11:00 a.m. and is intended for Heads of Departments, SIWES coordinators and students preparing to participate in the industrial training scheme.
