Adeyemi Federal University of Education (AFUED), Ondo, formerly known as Adeyemi College of Education, was established in 1963 to train qualified teachers for secondary schools and teacher training colleges in Nigeria. The institution commenced academic activities on 22 May 1964 with an initial enrollment of 93 students.
The university was named after Canon M. C. Adeyemi, an early educationist who contributed significantly to the development of education in the old Ondo Province.
Over the decades, the institution developed into one of the leading teacher-training colleges in Nigeria. It originally operated as a college affiliated with Obafemi Awolowo University, which enabled it to run degree programmes in education and related disciplines.
In 2023, the Federal Government of Nigeria approved the transition of the institution from Adeyemi College of Education to Adeyemi Federal University of Education (AFUE), allowing it to operate as a full university offering degree programmes across education, arts, sciences, and social sciences.

AFUED 2026/2027 Admission List: How to Check Admission Status
Adeyemi Federal University of Education (AFUED) has released its admission list for the 2026/2027 academic session, giving candidates who participated in the university’s Post UTME screening an opportunity to confirm their admission status. Prospective students can check for admission offers through their email inbox or directly on the AFUED Admission Portal.
Candidates who have been offered admission are expected to complete the required post-admission procedures to secure their places at the university. This includes accepting the admission offer through the Undergraduate Portal using their JAMB registration number and surname, followed by payment of the required acceptance fee. Candidates paying the acceptance fee through a bank are expected to use only the payment reference generated from the AFUED portal and should confirm the payment on their dashboard afterward.
After completing the required payment, admitted candidates will need to update their profiles and upload the necessary documents through the university portal. They will also be required to attend a physical verification exercise at the university and present their original documents. However, AFUED has not stated a specific date for the physical verification exercise in the admission information currently available.
Candidates who have not yet received an admission offer are encouraged to continue checking their admission status, as the university has indicated that additional admission lists will be released. No specific date has been announced for the next batch, so prospective students should regularly monitor their email and the official AFUED admission portal for further updates.
