ABSU Supplementary Admission Form 2026/2027

Abia State University (ABSU), Uturu, has invited applications from suitably qualified candidates for supplementary admission into its regular undergraduate degree programmes for the 2026/2027 academic session. The opportunity is open to candidates seeking admission into available courses across the university’s faculties.

Available programmes cover Agriculture, Basic Medical Sciences, Biological Sciences, Computing and Cybernetic Sciences, Communication and Media Studies, Economics and Management Sciences, Education, Engineering, Environmental Studies, Humanities, Health Sciences, Physical Sciences and Social Sciences. ABSU Admission List 2026/2027 Released on JAMB CAPS

Abia State University (ABSU) has released its 2026/2027 admission list on the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS). Candidates who participated in the university’s admission screening exercise can now check their admission status to confirm whether they have been offered provisional admission.

Candidates can check their status by visiting the JAMB e-Facility portal and logging in with their registered email address and password. From the dashboard, select ‘Check Admission Status’, then ‘Access my CAPS’ and click on ‘Admission Status’ to view the admission decision.

Candidates who have been offered admission should accept the offer through JAMB CAPS and proceed to print their JAMB admission letter after acceptance, as it may be required during clearance and registration at ABSU. Candidates who have not yet received an offer will see a message indicating that no admission has been given at the time of checking.

ABSU 2026 Teaching Staff Recruitment Across Academic Departments

Abia State University, Uturu (ABSU) has invited suitably qualified candidates to apply for teaching staff vacancies across several academic departments. The recruitment exercise covers academic ranks ranging from Graduate Assistant and Assistant Lecturer to Lecturer II, Lecturer I, Senior Lecturer, Reader and Professor, depending on the discipline. ABSU Students Protest Appointment of New Vice-Chancellor

A group known as the Concerned Students of Abia State University (ABSU) has appealed to the Abia State Governor to review the appointment of Professor Amadike Ugbogu as the university’s new Vice-Chancellor. In a letter to the Governor dated 2 November 2026, the group expressed its opposition to the appointment and called for the selection process to be reconsidered.

The students alleged that the appointment lacked merit, transparency and credibility, claiming that Professor Ugbogu’s reported connection to the Governor’s village had raised concerns about possible favouritism and political influence. They also described the process as one that could undermine confidence in the university’s leadership and institutional independence.

The group further made allegations concerning the professor’s previous administrative engagements, including claims of bias, financial impropriety, abuse of office, high-handedness and unfair treatment of staff and stakeholders. ABSU Appoints Professor Amadike Ugbogu as 9th Substantive Vice-Chancellor

Abia State University (ABSU), Uturu, has appointed Professor Amadike Ugbogu as its 9th substantive Vice-Chancellor. Ugbogu, a Professor of Biochemistry, was appointed following the recommendation of the university’s Governing Council.

The appointment was approved by the Governor of Abia State and Visitor to the university, Dr Alex Otti, OFR, following the council’s 161st regular meeting held on Thursday, 29 October 2026.

Professor Ugbogu’s appointment takes effect from 1 November 2026. He succeeds the outgoing university administration as the institution’s ninth substantive Vice-Chancellor.

ABSU New Programmes 2026/2027
