Federal University Lokoja (FULokoja) is a federal government-owned university located in Lokoja, Kogi State, Nigeria. The university was established in 2011 and commenced academic activities in the 2012/2013 academic session with two faculties and 11 academic programmes. Over the years, FULokoja has expanded its academic structure to include additional faculties, colleges, institutes, schools and directorates.

The university operates its main campus at Felele along the Lokoja-Okene Expressway, while its College of Health Sciences is located at Adankolo, behind the Kogi State Specialist Hospital in Lokoja. FULokoja’s motto is “Sic itur ad astra,” meaning “The Sky is the Limit.”

For the 2026/2027 academic session, the university set a minimum UTME score of 160 for candidates seeking to participate in its Post-UTME screening exercise. History 

Federal University Lokoja was established as one of Nigeria’s federal universities created to expand access to university education and strengthen higher education in different parts of the country. Academic activities began in the 2012/2013 session with just two faculties: the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences and the Faculty of Science.

The university’s pioneer programmes included English Language and Literary Studies, History and International Studies, Economics, Political Science, Geography, Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics and Geology. From this relatively small beginning, FULokoja has grown into a larger institution with a wider range of academic programmes and supporting academic and administrative structures.

The university has continued to expand its academic offerings. In June 2026, the National Universities Commission approved 14 additional undergraduate programmes for FULokoja, including Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security, Software Engineering, Data Science, Psychology, Social Work, Actuarial Science, Agricultural Economics, Fisheries and Aquaculture, and Broadcasting Journalism.

These new programmes form part of the university’s expansion for the 2026/2027 academic session and provide additional options for candidates interested in technology, business, social sciences, agriculture and other emerging fields.

FULOKOJA Post-UTME/DE Admission Form 2026/2027

Federal University Lokoja (FULOKOJA) has commenced its 2026/2027 Post-UTME and Direct Entry screening exercise for candidates seeking undergraduate admission. The screening portal opened on Tuesday, 9 June 2026, and applicants are required to use their valid 2026 JAMB registration numbers to access the FULOKOJA Post-UTME Screening Portal.

UTME candidates must have scored at least 160 in the 2026 UTME, selected FULOKOJA as their first-choice institution, and be at least 16 years old by 30 September 2026. Direct Entry candidates must have applied through JAMB. Applicants are also required to upload their O’Level results on the JAMB portal before completing the screening process. Candidates with awaiting results may begin registration but must complete the upload before participating in the online screening.

Applicants are required to update their biodata and, where applicable, previous academic records, generate a Remita invoice and pay the ₦2,000 Post-UTME screening fee, then select their preferred programme and provide the required O’Level details. Candidates must have at least five relevant O’Level credit passes in not more than two sittings, while Nursing Science, Medical Laboratory Science, Law and Pharmaceutical Science require the five relevant credits in one sitting. The FULOKOJA Post-UTME/DE screening exercise will close by midnight on Friday, 2 October 2026. Candidates are advised to complete their registration, upload their O’Level results and participate in the screening before the deadline. The University also warned that false or withheld information may lead to disqualification, and participation in the screening exercise does not automatically guarantee admission.

The Federal University Lokoja (FULOKOJA), Kogi State, has released its approved undergraduate academic calendar for the 2026/2027 academic session. The calendar, issued by the Directorate of Academic Planning in the Office of the Vice-Chancellor and signed by the Director, Professor Tajudeen O. Ahmed, outlines registration, lectures, examinations, semester breaks, results processing and convocation activities.

FULokoja Disclaims Fake Recruitment Form

The Management of the Federal University Lokoja (FUL) has disowned a fraudulent online recruitment form being circulated through a Google Forms link. The university stated that it has no knowledge of, affiliation with or authorisation for the purported employment exercise.

The institution specifically warned that the use of a personal Gmail account as the contact address is an indication of the form’s fraudulent nature. It clarified that official university activities, including recruitment, are communicated through authorised institutional channels and can be verified through the relevant university authorities.

Members of the public have been advised to disregard the form, avoid submitting personal information, academic credentials or financial details, and refrain from making payments connected to the purported exercise. The university also cautioned against sharing the link further and urged the public to verify recruitment information through its official website, the Registrar’s Office or the Directorate of Strategic Communication and Corporate Documentation.

FULOKOJA 47th Inaugural Lecture

The Federal University Lokoja (FULOKOJA), Kogi State, has announced its 47th Inaugural Lecture, scheduled for Wednesday, 28 October 2026. FULOKOJA Student Wins ₦2 Million KINHUB Hackathon Prize

Emmanuel Clinton Adeiza, a 400-level Geology student of the Federal University Lokoja (FULOKOJA), and his teammates in Team SafeRetriev have won ₦2 million in the Education Technology category of the Kogi Innovation Hub (KINHUB) Hackathon Challenge. The team emerged first among five teams that competed in the EdTech category.

Team SafeRetriev developed a solution aimed at addressing challenges relating to the access, preservation and verification of academic credentials. The team included students from the Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), with Adeiza serving as the only FULOKOJA representative.

The hackathon brought together students from FULOKOJA, CUSTECH, Prince Abubakar Audu University and Kogi State University, who competed across four technology categories: Education Technology (EdTech), Agriculture Technology (AgriTech), Health Technology (HealthTech) and Government Technology (GovTech).

The Department of Geology congratulated Adeiza and Team SafeRetriev on the achievement, noting his contribution to a project outside his core discipline. The department also acknowledged the support of academic and non-academic staff and the university management in promoting student development and practical applications of knowledge.

Federal University Lokoja also congratulated Adeiza and the entire SafeRetriev team on their success in the KINHUB Hackathon Challenge.

Federal Polytechnic Oko Gets NUC Approval for 10 Degree Programmes

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved 10 full-time undergraduate degree programmes for Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Anambra State, in affiliation with Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, for the 2026/2027 academic session. The programmes will be offered at the Polytechnic’s Main Campus.

The approved programmes are B.Sc. Accounting, B.Sc. Banking and Finance, B.Sc. Business Administration, B.Sc. Public Administration and B.Sc. Mass Communication. The list also includes B.Sc. Computer Science, B.Eng. Electrical and Electronics Engineering, B.Sc. Biochemistry, B.Sc. Chemistry and B.Sc. Microbiology.

Federal Polytechnic Oko Suspends Alumni Association Activities

The Management of Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Anambra State, has announced the immediate suspension of all activities and programmes of the institution’s Alumni Association across its campuses.

The decision follows an ongoing leadership dispute between rival factions of the association, which management said has heightened tensions and raised concerns about campus security and academic peace. The institution also cited unauthorised attempts by one faction to access sensitive institutional records and organise events without approval.

Under the directive, all alumni association meetings, events and use of institutional facilities are prohibited unless authorised by management. Staff, students and security personnel have been directed to ensure strict compliance with the suspension.

The suspension will remain in force until management officially lifts it. The institution said the measure is intended to restore administrative order, protect its reputation and safeguard the welfare of students and staff while efforts continue to resolve the leadership dispute.

Federal Polytechnic Oko Notice on 75% Lecture Attendance Policy

The Federal Polytechnic Oko, Anambra State, has reminded students and lecturers of its policy requiring a minimum of 75% attendance at scheduled lectures. The directive was contained in an internal memo issued by the Office of the Registrar on 12 October 2026, with reference number FPO/RG/273/VOL.II/125.

According to the memo, students must attend at least 75% of lectures for each course to qualify to sit for the examinations. Students who fail to meet the attendance requirement will be barred from taking examinations in the affected courses. Lecturers are also required to attend and deliver their scheduled lectures as timetabled.

Admission Requirements

UTME (Undergraduate) Admission

  • A minimum of five (5) O’Level credit passes including English Language and Mathematics, obtained in not more than two sittings in WAEC, NECO, GCE O’Level, or NABTEB.

  • A valid JAMB UTME score meeting RUN’s minimum cut-off mark is required.

  • Candidates must be at least 16 years of age at the time of admission.

  • Candidates must participate in the Redeemer’s University Post-UTME screening exercise.

  • Candidates must select Redeemer’s University as their first choice institution in JAMB. However, candidates who did not choose RUN as first choice can apply for a JAMB change of institution form.

Cut-off Mark

The last known JAMB cut-off mark for Redeemer’s University is 160 for most programmes. However, due to high competition, candidates with higher scores (180 and above) have a significantly better chance of admission. Redeemer’s University 25th Inaugural Lecture Holds 20 October

Redeemer’s University has scheduled its 25th Inaugural Lecture for Tuesday, 20 October 2026, at the university auditorium. The event is open to members of the public and the university community.

The lecture, titled “Nature, Nanomedicine and Numbers: A Salubrious Odyssey of a Toxicologist,” will be delivered by Professor Chiagoziem Anariochi Otuechere, the university’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic).

Professor Otuechere is a Professor of Biochemical Toxicology and Phytomedicine in the Department of Biochemistry, Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences. His lecture will form part of the university’s inaugural lecture series, which provides a platform for professors to present their scholarly work and research contributions.

The lecture is scheduled to begin at 1:00 pm at the Redeemer’s University Auditorium. Members of the public, academics, researchers and other interested participants are invited to attend.

Redeemer’s University Gets NUC Approval for 10 New Programmes

Redeemer’s University, Ede, Osun State, has received approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC) to commence 10 new full-time undergraduate programmes from the 2026/2027 academic session. The approval followed a resource verification exercise conducted by a panel constituted by the NUC to assess the university’s available human and material resources.

The programmes approved for commencement at the university’s main campus are B.Sc. Broadcasting, B.Sc. Public Relations, B.Sc. Advertising, B.Sc. Information and Media Studies, B.Sc. Journalism and Media Studies, B.A. Film Production, B.Sc. Criminology and Security Studies, B.Sc. Biotechnology, B.Sc. Software Engineering, and B.Sc. Information Systems.

According to the NUC, the approval is limited to the full-time mode of study. The Commission conveyed the approval in a letter signed by its Director, Academic Planning, Abubakar M. Girei, on behalf of the Executive Secretary.

The Vice-Chancellor of Redeemer’s University, Prof. Shadrach Olufemi Akindele, described the approval as a significant development in the university’s academic expansion. He said the new programmes would broaden opportunities for prospective students while providing training in areas linked to emerging global trends, industry needs and technological development.

UNICAL Announces Supplementary Examinations for 2025/2026 Session

The University of Calabar (UNICAL) has announced supplementary examinations for the Second Semester (Regular) and First Semester (Stream B) of the 2025/2026 academic session. The examinations are scheduled to commence in November 2026, and eligible students must submit their applications to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) on or before Friday, 6 November 2026.

According to the university, students who were ill during the examination period may apply by presenting a medical report endorsed by the Director of Health Services. Students who represented the university at an official event during the examination period are also eligible to apply, alongside those affected by the death of a first-degree relative.

All applicants must provide evidence of course registration for the relevant academic session, alongside supporting documents applicable to their circumstances. Applications should be forwarded to the Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) before the stated deadline.

The announcement was signed by Prof. Ekaette Enang, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic). Heads of Departments, Deans and Provosts have been directed to circulate the information through student platforms and notice boards. UNICAL Hostel Accommodation Payment Procedure 2026/2027

The management of the University of Calabar (UNICAL), through its Student Affairs Division, has announced the payment procedure for students who have been allocated hostel accommodation spaces.

The payment process will commence at 12 midnight on Monday, 2 November 2026, through the UNICAL hostel payment portal. Allocated students are required to log in with their email addresses, verify their accounts using the OTP sent to them, upload their school fees receipts and fee reference numbers, and complete their biodata forms. The system will also capture their photographs before they proceed to payment.

Students must transfer the exact amount displayed on the checkout page to avoid payment reversal. The payment window will close at midnight on Friday, 6 November 2026.

The Student Affairs Division has warned that all unclaimed hostel spaces will automatically be revoked and reallocated after the deadline. Affected students are therefore advised to complete their payments within the stipulated period.

UNICAL Declares Degree Certificate Collection Free, Warns Against Illegal Charges

The University of Calabar (UNICAL) has announced that degree certificate collection by former students is free of charge. The university has also warned Faculty Officers, Deans and Institute Directors against imposing unauthorised fees on graduates seeking to collect their certificates.

In a memo dated 4 October 2026, the Directorate of SERVICOM said it had received complaints from former students, particularly prospective National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members, over alleged certificate collection charges ranging from ₦16,000 to ₦45,000.

The Director of SERVICOM, Prof. Bassey Oben, described the alleged charges as illegal and unacceptable, reiterating that certificate collection at UNICAL is free. The memo further warned Deans and Directors that they would be held personally responsible for any unauthorised charges imposed on graduates.

SERVICOM also announced plans to publish the amounts allegedly being collected by faculties and institutes under the guise of certificate collection. The university reiterated that certificate collection should not attract any fee and advised graduates to report any unauthorised charges through the appropriate channels.

Caleb University has released guidelines for the 2025/2026 Summer Examinations, outlining eligibility requirements, maximum credit loads, registration procedures and examination dates. The university advised all concerned students to review the instructions carefully and complete the necessary steps before the examinations.

The summer examination is strictly for graduating students who have completed the minimum academic residency requirement. Regular students must have completed at least eight semesters, while Direct Entry students must have completed six semesters. History of the Institution

Taraba State University was established in 2008 by the Taraba State Government with the primary mandate of widening access to tertiary education for Taraba State indigenes and contributing to the economic and human capital development of the state. The first Vice-Chancellor of the university at inception was Dr. Ahmed Usman Jalingo, who served from 2008 until his passing in March 2011. Following his death, Professor Michael Noku served as Acting Vice-Chancellor. In January 2012, Professor Mohammed Sani Yahaya was appointed as the second substantive Vice-Chancellor.

The university’s first convocation ceremony was conducted in 2018, combining the 1st through 5th graduating sets — a total of 5,900 students. Of these, 29 graduated with First Class Honours, 1,006 with Second Class Upper Division, 2,083 with Second Class Lower, 1,850 with Third Class, and 32 with Pass Degrees. By 2022, the university had produced its first-ever PhD graduate — Hanawa Herbert Rufus — who made history as the first doctoral degree holder from TSU.

The university has expanded steadily over its 17-year history, adding faculties including Engineering, Health Sciences, Communication and Media Studies, and Law. TSU has also benefited from TETFund interventions covering physical infrastructure, academic staff development, library improvement, equipment procurement, and research. The university’s motto, Harnessing Nature’s Gift, reflects Taraba State’s rich natural endowments and the institution’s goal of harnessing human potential for development.

TASU 2026/2027 Admission Update and Available Alternative Courses

Taraba State University (TASU), Jalingo, has issued an admission update for candidates who applied through the 2026 UTME. According to a notice from the Office of the Registrar, some programmes have received more applications than available spaces. Affected candidates have therefore been advised to consider alternative courses with vacancies for the 2026/2027 academic session.

Candidates seeking admission into Public Health, Environmental Health, Radiography, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Human Anatomy, Human Physiology and Nursing Science may consider Agriculture, Agronomy, Forestry and Wildlife Management, Botany, Zoology, Agricultural Economics and Extension, and selected Education and Health-related programmes. Applicants for Civil Engineering and Electrical and Electronics Engineering may consider Agricultural and Bio-Resource Engineering, Mining Minerals Processing Engineering, Physics, Statistics, Mathematics and Technology Education. Candidates who applied for Computer Science, Information and Communication Technology or Software Engineering may consider Technology Education or Computer Science Education.

Applicants for Mass Communication, Journalism and Media Studies, or Theatre and Film Studies may consider Broadcasting, Public Relations, Linguistics/English, English and Literary Studies, and selected Arts and Education programmes. Candidates who applied for Political Science, Public Administration or Sociology may consider History and Diplomatic Studies, Education and History, Education and Political Science, or Educational Administration and Planning. Those seeking admission into Economics, Business Administration, Accountancy, Banking and Finance may consider Education and Economics, Business Education or Entrepreneurship. Candidates with Geography in JAMB and a credit in Geography at O’Level may also consider Survey and Geo-Informatics, Meteorology or Climate Change.

Affected candidates are advised to visit the JAMB portal and change their course to an alternative programme with available vacancies. Before making the change, applicants should ensure that their UTME subject combinations and O’Level results meet the requirements of their chosen courses. The notice was signed by Dr Joseph U. Admission Lists

TASU Merit Admission List 2026/2027

Taraba State University (TASU), Jalingo, has released its admission list for the 2026/2027 academic session on the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS). Candidates who participated in the university’s admission screening exercise can now check their admission status online.

To check their status, applicants should visit the JAMB e-Facility portal and log in with their registered email address and password. From the dashboard, select “Check Admission Status”, click on “Access my CAPS”, and then choose “Admission Status” to see whether an admission offer has been made.

Candidates who have been offered admission should accept or reject the offer using the available JAMB CAPS process. The notice also states that candidates can send ACCEPT or REJECT by SMS to 55019 or 66019 using the phone number linked to their JAMB profile. Candidates without access to their registered phone numbers are advised to visit a JAMB-accredited centre for assistance.

Admitted candidates are advised to accept their offers within the stated four-week period and print their JAMB admission letters after acceptance, as these may be required during clearance and registration. Candidates checking CAPS on a mobile phone who cannot see all the options can use Google Chrome’s “Request desktop site” feature to display the full page. Applicants who have not yet received an offer should continue checking their admission status for updates.

School Fees

Taraba State University is widely regarded as one of the most affordable state universities in Nigeria. The university operates a differentiated fee structure for indigenes and non-indigenes.

TASU Post-UTME/DE Application Deadline Extended to October 31, 2026

Taraba State University (TASU), Jalingo, has extended the deadline for the 2026/2027 Post-UTME and Direct Entry (DE) application. The university management approved the extension to give prospective candidates more time to complete the online application process.

The application portal will now remain open until Saturday, 31st October 2026. Candidates who are yet to apply are advised to complete their applications before the new deadline, as applications submitted after the portal closes may not be considered.

TASU stated that only candidates who have uploaded their O’level result(s) to the JAMB portal and completed the university’s online application exercise will be considered for admission. Applicants are also required to provide accurate information during registration, as the university warned that candidates found to have supplied false information may be disqualified, even after gaining admission.

The extension applies to candidates seeking admission into Taraba State University for the 2026/2027 academic session through UTME and Direct Entry. Applicants are advised to ensure that all required steps are completed before the new closing date.
