History of the Institution

College of Nursing Sciences, Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital was established by the Ekiti State Government to address the critical need for qualified nurses in the state and the South-West region of Nigeria. The institution operates as part of the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH) system, leveraging the clinical resources of the teaching hospital for practical training .

The nursing science department at Ekiti State University itself was created in 2017, with Mrs. C.O. Adeleye serving as the pioneer coordinator from July 2017 to December 2018 . Prof. R.B. Fajemilehin served as Head of Department from January 2019 to December 2019, and the current coordinator as of 2021 is Mrs. R.O. Oke .

In December 2024, Ekiti State University inducted its first set of 54 Nursing Science graduates from the 2023/2024 set into the nursing profession, with eight students distinguishing themselves with Credit Pass in the professional examination . Miss Ogunbunmi Abisola Mary emerged as the overall best-graduating student .
