Benue State University (BSU), now officially known as Rev. Fr. Moses Orshio Adasu University (MOAUM), is a state-owned university located in Makurdi, Benue State, Nigeria. Established in 1992, the institution is recognized as the first state university in Northern Nigeria. History of the Institution
Benue State University was established by the Benue State Government in 1992 to expand access to higher education in the North-Central region of Nigeria. It began as Benue State University, Makurdi, and over the years developed into a multi-faculty institution with programmes in sciences, arts, law, education, health sciences, communication, environmental sciences, and management.
In recent years, the institution was renamed Rev. Fr. Moses Orshio Adasu University in honour of Reverend Father Moses Orshio Adasu, former Governor of Benue State and key figure in the university’s development. MOAUM Opens Admission for Proficiency Certificate Courses, 2026
Reverend Father Moses Orshio Adasu University, Makurdi (MOAUM), formerly Benue State University, has announced admission into its proficiency certificate courses for interested applicants. The programmes are offered through the Faculty of Technology and Industrial Studies at the Adikpo Campus and are designed to provide practical skills in different areas.
The certificate courses cover fields including Agricultural Technology and Consumer Science, Business Technology and Entrepreneurship Education, and Industrial Technology. Available programmes include salon and beauty therapy, fashion design, baking and confectioneries, computer application, office management, financial accounting, automobile repairs, welding, solar installation, electrical works, refrigeration and other technical trades.
Each programme will run for nine months, and applicants are required to have attempted a secondary school certificate examination as the general entry requirement. Interested candidates are expected to pay a non-refundable application fee of ₦5,000 after completing the online pre-registration process through the university application portal.
Applications should be completed online through the MOAUM application portal by selecting “Preliminary Technology & Industrial Studies” and following the registration steps. MOAUM Preliminary Technology Admission Form 2026/2027 is Out
Reverend Father Moses Orshio Adasu University, Makurdi (MOAUM), formerly Benue State University, has announced the commencement of admission into its Preliminary Technology and Industrial Studies programme for the 2026/2027 academic session. The programme is offered through the Faculty of Technology and Industrial Studies at the Adikpo Campus and provides candidates with UTME preparation and an opportunity to address O’Level subject deficiencies.
The available programmes cover Agricultural Technology and Consumer Science, Business Technology and Entrepreneurship Education, and Industrial Technology. Courses include B.Sc. Ed Home Economics, B.Sc. Ed Business Education with specialisations in Accounting Education, Entrepreneurship Education, Marketing and Distribution Education and Office Management, as well as B.Tech. Ed options in Automobile Technology, Building Technology, Electrical/Electronic Technology, Metal Work Technology, Wood Work Technology and Refrigeration and Air Conditioning.

MOAUM Post-UTME Test Date and Notice 2026/2027
The management of Rev. Fr. Moses Orshio Adasu University (MOAUM), Makurdi, Benue State, formerly known as Benue State University (BSU), has announced the conduct of its Post-UTME test for the 2026/2027 academic session. The exercise is for candidates seeking admission into selected programmes at the university.
According to an internal memo dated 6 October 2026, the Post-UTME test will cover candidates applying for Medicine and Surgery (MBBS), B.Sc. Radiography and Radiation Science, B.Sc. Medical Laboratory Science, Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm. D) and Bachelor of Laws (LL.B). Candidates seeking admission into these programmes are advised to prepare for the screening exercise.
The university has scheduled the test to hold from Wednesday, 14 October, to Friday, 16 October 2026. The examination will take place at the University CBT Centre, Eastern Wing of the Campus. BSU 31st Inaugural Lecture
Rev. Fr. Moses Orshio Adasu University (BSU), Makurdi, has announced its 31st Inaugural Lecture, organised by the Department of Industrial Technology, Faculty of Technology and Industrial Studies.
The lecture is titled “The Scholar as Craftsman: Forging Minds and Machines” and will be delivered by Professor Benedict Iorzer Labe. The event will be chaired by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Timothy Terseer Alabar.
The lecture is scheduled to hold on Thursday, November 19, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. prompt at College of Health Sciences Auditorium I.
