Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike, Ikwo (AE-FUNAI), commonly known as FUNAI, is a federal university established by the Federal Government of Nigeria in 2011. The institution was originally known as Federal University Ndufu-Alike Ikwo before it was renamed in 2018 in honour of Dr. Alex Ekwueme, Nigeria’s first elected Vice President of the Second Republic. The university was created to expand access to higher education and promote research, innovation, and academic development in Nigeria.
Since its establishment, FUNAI has grown rapidly with multiple faculties, research centres, and professional programmes designed to train graduates in sciences, engineering, humanities, social sciences, and health-related fields.
