Federal Polytechnic, Oko  popularly known as OKOPOLY  is a Federal Government-owned polytechnic located in Oko, Anambra State, Nigeria. Established in 1979, the institution is one of the most prominent polytechnics in South-East Nigeria, offering National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes across multiple disciplines.

Federal Polytechnic Oko operates across three campuses (Oko, Ufuma, and Atani) and has grown into a large institution with over 15,000 students and more than 40 accredited programmes. The institution is fully accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and is committed to producing technically skilled and entrepreneurial graduates.

History of the Institution

The origin of Federal Polytechnic, Oko dates back to 1979, when it was initially established as a College of Arts and Science by the Anambra State Government.

In 1980, the institution was upgraded to the College of Arts, Science and Technology, attracting more students seeking higher qualifications. By 1985, it became the Anambra State Polytechnic, Oko, following a formal edict.

The institution was later taken over by the Federal Government in 1993, leading to its current status as Federal Polytechnic, Oko.

Strategically located near major commercial and industrial hubs such as Awka, Nnewi, Onitsha, and Aba, the polytechnic has benefited from strong industry exposure and collaboration. Over the years, it has developed into one of Nigeria’s fastest-growing tertiary institutions with expanding infrastructure and academic programmes.
