Established in 1991 by the Military Governor of Katsina State, Colonel Yahaya John Madaki, as College of Education (Technical), Dutsin-ma . In 1994, it was converted to a conventional College of Education, and in 1995, the civilian government of Alhaji Sa’idu Barda renamed the college Isa Kaita College of Education to immortalize the late Alhaji Isa Kaita, Wazirin Katsina . The college is funded and managed by the Katsina State Government through the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE). IKCOEDM offers Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) programmes and degree programmes in affiliation with Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria . The college also collaborates with Bayero University Kano, Usman Danfodio University Sokoto, and the University of Wolverhampton, United Kingdom . History of the Institution
Isa Kaita College of Education, Dutsin-Ma was established in 1991 by Colonel Yahaya John Madaki, the then Military Governor of Katsina State . The college was originally established as College of Education (Technical), Dutsin-ma with the primary aim of addressing the shortage of Science and Technical Teachers at the NCE level at that time .
In 1994, the college was converted to a conventional College of Education to make it an all-encompassing Teacher Training Institution. The major Technical Department was transferred to Hassan Usman Katsina Polytechnic .
In 1995, the civilian government of Alhaji Sa’idu Barda renamed the college Isa Kaita College of Education to immortalize the late Alhaji Isa Kaita, Wazirin Katsina .
The college has established collaborations and affiliations with numerous national and international organizations and universities, including UNICEF, DFID, Teacher Development Programme (TDP), Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, Bayero University Kano, Usman Danfodio University Sokoto, University of Wolverhampton (United Kingdom), National Teachers Institute (NTI), Universal Basic Education (UBEC), and State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) .
The college has a strong relationship with its host community. Dutsin-ma people and its leaders, particularly the District Head of Dutsin-ma, have been very hospitable and supportive to the college since its establishment .
