Kogi State College of Health Sciences and Technology, Idah has formally welcomed a new cohort of students during its matriculation ceremony held on 12th March, 2026.

EducationNGR gathered that the event took place at the College Convocation Square and commenced at 10:00 a.m., marking the official admission of the students into the institution’s academic programmes for the academic year.

Highlights Of The Ceremony

The ceremony was attended by members of the institution’s Governing Council, Academic Board, and Management, who gathered to witness the formal induction of the newly admitted students.

Sanusi Maratafu, the Acting Provost of the college, played a key role during the proceedings, symbolising the institution’s commitment to maintaining academic standards during the current transitional leadership period.

Presence Of State Leadership

The event also acknowledged the presence and support of the Governor of Kogi State, Ahmed Usman Ododo, who serves as the Visitor to the institution and has continued to support educational development within the state.

Significance Of The Matriculation Ceremony

The matriculation ceremony represents a formal rite of passage for newly admitted students. During the event, students take an oath to abide by the rules and regulations of the college as they begin their academic journey in health sciences and technology.

Yusuf Maitama Sule Federal University of Education, Kano (YMSFUEK) is a federal university established to advance teacher education and academic research in Nigeria. The institution evolved from the Federal College of Education (FCE), Kano, which had been one of the major teacher-training institutions in Northern Nigeria for several decades.

The Federal College of Education, Kano was originally established to train professional teachers for primary and secondary schools across the country. In 2023, the Federal Government of Nigeria upgraded the college to a Federal University of Education and renamed it Yusuf Maitama Sule Federal University of Education, Kano, in honor of Alhaji Yusuf Maitama Sule, a respected Nigerian diplomat, politician, and elder statesman.

The transition to a university enabled the institution to award independent university degrees and expand its academic programmes in education, arts, sciences, and vocational studies. The National Universities Commission (NUC) later approved 28 degree programmes for the university to commence from the 2025/2026 academic session.

Adeyemi Federal University of Education (AFUED), Ondo, formerly known as Adeyemi College of Education, was established in 1963 to train qualified teachers for secondary schools and teacher training colleges in Nigeria. SAZU Issues Notice On First Semester GST CBT CA For 2025/2026 Session

Sa’adu Zungur University, Bauchi, through its Directorate of General Studies, has announced the schedule for the First Semester Computer-Based Test (CBT) Continuous Assessment for the 2025/2026 academic session.

According to an internal memorandum dated 3rd March, 2026, the CBT Continuous Assessment for General Studies (GST) courses will commence on Monday, 9th March and run through Friday, 13th March, 2026, with daily sessions starting at 9:00 a.m.

EducationNGR gathered that the exercise is mandatory for all affected students.

Affected Courses

The first semester GST courses scheduled for the CBT Continuous Assessment include:

  • GST 111 – Communication in English (2 credit units)

  • ENT 211 – Entrepreneurship and Innovation (2 credit units)

  • GST 312 – Peace and Conflict Resolution (2 credit units)

The Directorate further emphasised that students with carryover in any of the listed courses are also required to participate in the assessment exercise.

Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU) has officially launched a new digital mobile application designed to manage students’ academic life cycle, marking a major milestone in the institution’s transition from analogue to digital operations.

The development was disclosed in an internal memorandum dated 24th February, 2026, issued by the Directorate of Information and Communication Technology (DICT) to all Heads of Departments and students.

EducationNGR learnt that the memo, signed by the Director of ICT, Engr. Prof. J. P. Iloh, confirmed that the platform is now live and available for download on both the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.

Features Of The New COOU App

The mobile application enables students to carry out essential academic and administrative activities seamlessly. Key features include:

  • Real-time CGPA updates

  • Lecture and CBT scheduling

  • Creation of official COOU-based email addresses for students

ICT Fee And Registration Directive

The Directorate further stated that students who have paid their school fees for the 2025/2026 academic session can commence course registration on the new platform upon payment of the compulsory ICT fee of ₦15,000 through the integrated CREDO platform.

While the old portal remains functional, all students are mandated to register their courses for the 2025/2026 session on both platforms.

Heads of Departments have also been directed to submit approved CCMAS (100–300 level) and BMAS (400 level and above) course lists to ensure smooth profiling and registration on the new system.
