MOUAU Academic Calendar for 2026/2027 Session Released

Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU), has released the academic calendar for the 2026/2027 academic session, outlining important dates for registration, lectures, examinations, holidays, and other academic activities for fresh and returning students.

For the first semester, fresh students are expected to resume on Sunday, October 18, 2026, while returning students will resume on Sunday, October 25, 2026. Lectures for both fresh and old students will begin on Monday, October 26, 2026, with registration, orientation, matriculation, and other activities scheduled throughout the semester. First semester examinations will hold from Monday, February 8, to Friday, March 5, 2027, after which the semester will officially end.

The second semester will commence with students’ return to campus on Sunday, April 4, 2027, while lectures and registration will begin on Monday, April 5, 2027. Lectures are expected to end on Friday, June 25, 2027, followed by revision, examinations from Monday, July 12, to Friday, August 6, 2027, and the end of the 2026/2027 academic session for non-graduating students.

Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU), will hold its 76th Inaugural Lecture on Wednesday, 14 October 2026, beginning at 1:00pm. The lecture will be delivered by Professor Paulinus Chukwuemeka Ngoka, Professor of Hospitality Management and Tourism.

The lecture is titled “Uneven Steps to Tourism Development in Nigeria: Optimizing the Vast Potentials of the Sector for Sustainable National Development.” Professor Ngoka holds B.Sc., M.Ed. and Ph.D. qualifications obtained in Nigeria and will speak on issues relating to tourism development and the sector’s potential for sustainable national development.

MOUAU SUG Says School Fee Adjustment Talks Are Still Ongoing

Delta State Poly Oghara Post-UTME Screening Dates Announced 2026/2027

Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe-Oghara, has announced the schedule for its 2026/2027 Post-UTME screening exercise for candidates seeking admission into its National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes.

According to the Polytechnic, the screening exercise will take place from Monday, September 28, to Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at the Polytechnic campus. The exercise will cover candidates from all schools within the institution, with ND Regular I & II and HND candidates scheduled to participate by 10:00 a.m. on each of the screening days.

Plateau State University  popularly known as PLASU  is a public state university located in Bokkos, Plateau State, Nigeria. History of the Institution

Plateau State University was established on 7th March 2005 under Plateau State Law No. 4 of 2005. It was officially recognised by the National Universities Commission on 29th April 2005 as the 66th university in Nigeria and the 24th state-owned university at the time.

Academic activities initially commenced in May 2007 with about 480 students. Operations were later suspended that same year, and students were temporarily transferred to the University of Jos. The university was reopened in October 2010, with lectures resuming in January 2011.

Since reopening, PLASU has expanded in infrastructure, faculties, staffing, and student population. In recent years, the university has continued to launch development projects and improve academic programmes through TETFund support and internal reforms.

PLASU Tuition Fees Remain Unchanged for 2026/2027 Academic Session

The Students’ Union Government (SUG) of Plateau State University, Bokkos, has announced that there will be no increase in tuition fees for the 2026/2027 academic session. The announcement is aimed at addressing concerns among students regarding possible changes to tuition fees and other registration-related charges.

According to the SUG, the decision followed consultations involving student representatives, including NAPSS, the Students’ Parliament, faculty leaders, departmental leaders, and tribal leaders, who engaged the Dean of Student Affairs on the matter.

Following the discussions, the university management confirmed through the Dean of Student Affairs that the tuition fees for the 2026/2027 session will remain unchanged. New and returning students have therefore been advised to proceed with their registration and other academic activities within the approved timeframe.

The Students’ Union Government reassured students that it will continue to engage with relevant university authorities on issues affecting student welfare and academic activities.

PLASU SUG Advises Students to Suspend New Session Payments Pending Further Notice

The Students’ Union Government (SUG) of Plateau State University (PLASU), Bokkos, has issued a notice advising all new and returning students to temporarily suspend payments relating to the new academic session.

The notice, issued following a meeting of the Students’ Union bodies on 20 September 2026, was directed to all students of the university. According to the SUG, the decision followed concerns over various payment requests and financial obligations being communicated to students ahead of the new session.

The Union advised students not to make any payments at the moment and urged them to remain patient until further clarification and official communication are provided. Students were encouraged to rely on updates from the SUG leadership before proceeding with any financial commitments.

The SUG stated that the welfare and financial interests of PLASU students remain a priority and called on students to remain calm and attentive to subsequent announcements. The notice was signed by the SUG President, Iyali Isaac Tok’an, and the SUG Secretary General, Elisha Ayiku.

The Department of Animal and Environmental Biology (AEB), University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT), has issued a notice to all final-year students concerning the submission of research projects and payment of the project defence fee ahead of the upcoming project defence exercise.

UNIPORT Adjusts Second Semester Exam Schedule for 2025/2026 Session

The University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) has announced adjustments to the second semester examination timetable for the 2025/2026 academic session following disruptions caused by the recent Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) strike.

According to a memorandum issued by the University Registrar on September 21, 2026, examinations scheduled from Tuesday, September 22, to Friday, September 25, 2026, will continue as originally planned. However, examinations that could not hold on September 17, 18, and 21, 2026 have been rescheduled to September 28, 29, and 30, 2026, respectively, while maintaining the same examination times and venues.

The university also announced that ECO 102.2 has been moved to Saturday, September 26, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. In addition, examinations initially scheduled for Wednesday, September 16, 2026, will now hold on the same date, time, and venue arrangements as other affected papers on Saturday, September 26, 2026.

Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti, popularly known as Adopoly or FedPoly Ado  is a Federal Government-owned polytechnic located in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, Nigeria. Established in 1977, it is one of Nigeria’s leading second-generation federal polytechnics, offering National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes across engineering, science, business, environmental studies, and agriculture.

History of the Institution

Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti traces its origins to January 1977, when it was established as a College of Technology in Jos, Plateau State, with an initial intake of 350 National Diploma students. The following year, the institution was relocated to Akure, Ondo State, where it operated under the name Federal College of Technology, Akure. It was formally converted into a full polytechnic under Decree No. 33 of July 1979, which harmonised all Federal Government-owned polytechnics in Nigeria.

In 1982, the Federal Government established the Federal University of Technology at the Akure site, which necessitated the relocation of the polytechnic. The relocation to its permanent site in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State began in 1983 and was fully completed by 1986.

The institution has since grown significantly, expanding from 7 academic departments and 350 students at inception to over 10,000 students and approximately 2,000 staff across 29 academic departments in five schools. It also maintains collaborative academic partnerships with institutions including Adekunle Ajasin University (AAUA), Federal University of Technology Minna (FUT-Minna), Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Aberystwyth University (UK), and the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA).

ND (National Diploma) Admission

  • Minimum of five (5) O’Level credit passes including English Language and Mathematics, obtained in not more than two sittings in WAEC, NECO, GCE, or NABTEB.

Fed Poly Ado-Ekiti Issues Notice on Mandatory Industrial Training Requirement for HND Admission

The Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti, has reminded National Diploma (ND) students of the mandatory Industrial Training requirement before proceeding to the Higher National Diploma (HND) programme. The notice was issued by the Directorate of Academic Affairs and is addressed to students and members of the Polytechnic community.

According to the circular dated 21st September 2026, ND students seeking admission into HND programmes are required to complete the compulsory Industrial Training after obtaining their ND certificate. The Polytechnic stated that students with Lower Credit and above must complete a minimum of nine months Industrial Training, while those with a Pass grade are required to complete eighteen months of Industrial Training.

The institution explained that the reminder became necessary following a recent communication from the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) concerning cases where some HND graduates reported for orientation without evidence of completing the required Industrial Training. Students were therefore advised to obtain and keep their Industrial Training completion certificate issued by the Directorate of Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) of their ND institution.

The Polytechnic management further advised ND students planning to continue to HND programmes to take the requirement seriously and ensure proper documentation of their Industrial Training completion. The certificate may be required during NYSC registration and at the NYSC Orientation Camp, and failure to provide the necessary evidence could affect registration. Students were encouraged to share the information with their colleagues and comply with the directive accordingly.

Kogi State Polytechnic  widely known as KSP or KOGIPOLY  is a state government-owned polytechnic located in Felele, along the Lokoja-Abuja Expressway, Lokoja, the capital of Kogi State, North-Central Nigeria. Established in December 1992 by Prince Abubakar Audu — the first and second Executive Governor of Kogi State — through an amended Edict No. 6 of 1994, the polytechnic commenced academic activities in January 1993. It is fully accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and approved by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) for technical and vocational education. KSP offers ND and HND programmes across eight schools covering engineering, business, science, agriculture, environmental technology, art and design, and general studies. The polytechnic also operates a second campus at Itakpe in Kogi State. KSP attracts over 10,000 applicants annually and is known for its affordable tuition fees and strike-free academic calendar — offering students a pathway to timely graduation. The current Rector is Professor Salihu Sanusi Avidime. History of the Institution

The establishment of Kogi State Polytechnic is rooted in the determination of Prince Abubakar Audu, who served as the first and second Executive Governor of Kogi State, to build a strong technical education institution for his people. The polytechnic was formally established in December 1992 through an amended edict, and took off in January 1993, initially operating from the Government Science Secondary School, Lokoja, and the Osara Campus, with Dr. Isa I.A. serving as the first Rector.

The polytechnic’s establishment coincided with the creation of Kogi State from the old Kwara and Benue States in 1991 — which meant the institution grew alongside a young state eager to build its own institutions and infrastructure. From its early days, KSP worked to expand its academic programmes and physical facilities, eventually establishing a permanent campus in the Felele area of Lokoja along the Lokoja-Abuja Expressway, and a second campus at Itakpe.

The polytechnic has faced and overcome significant challenges over the years. In December 2005, hoodlums destroyed school property in a serious disruption to campus activities. In 2010, a tragic accident left 18 students dead — a sobering moment in the institution’s history. Despite these setbacks, KSP has continued to grow its academic accreditations, expand its schools, and secure TETFund support covering physical infrastructure, academic staff training, ICT development, library improvement, research, and entrepreneurship. The polytechnic now operates eight schools, has built an active research and publication infrastructure through two journals (LOJAS and LOJMAT), and runs a vibrant Directorate of Entrepreneurship.

Kogi State Poly ND/HND Admission List Released for 2026/2027 Academic Session

The Management of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, has released the First Batch Admission List for candidates who applied for admission into its National Diploma (ND) programmes for the 2026/2027 academic session. Applicants who participated in the admission process can now proceed to check their admission status.

Candidates can check their admission status through the Polytechnic’s official admission portal at https://portal.ksplokoja.edu.ng/admissionstatus. Those offered admission are required to accept the offer on the portal and complete the necessary admission and registration procedures as directed by the institution.

The Polytechnic has announced that screening of newly admitted candidates will begin on Wednesday, 23rd September 2026. Successful candidates are advised to take note of the screening date and prepare to provide the required documents and meet the institution’s screening requirements.

Kogi State Polytechnic Appoints Dr. Godwin Ojodomo as New Deputy Rector

The Governing Council of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, has approved the appointment of Dr. Godwin Ojodomo Onamah as the new Deputy Rector of the institution. The appointment was approved through the Council Chairman, Barr. Sanni Shaibu, and is subject to ratification at the next Governing Council meeting.

Dr. Onamah brings extensive experience in academia, institutional administration and public service to the position. He holds a Ph.D. in Public Administration and Local Government Administration, an M.Sc. in Public Administration and a B.A. (Hons) in Public Administration.

Before his appointment as Deputy Rector, Dr. Onamah had built a long academic career at Kogi State Polytechnic, rising from Lecturer III in 1996 to Chief Lecturer in 2010. He has also held several administrative positions, including Head of Department of Public Administration, Dean of the Directorate of Students Services, Director of Academic Planning Unit and Director of Advancement, Support and Linkages.

Beyond his service at the Polytechnic, Dr. Onamah previously served as Honourable Commissioner for Works in Kogi State from 2014 to 2016 and has received professional recognition through various fellowships and memberships. His appointment is expected to bring his academic knowledge, administrative experience and public-sector background to the continued development of Kogi State Polytechnic.
