History of the Institution

Ekiti State University was founded in 1982 as Obafemi Awolowo University, Ado-Ekiti by the old Ondo State Government. In 1985, the name changed to Ondo State University. After the creation of Ekiti State in 1996, ownership transferred to the new state government. It was later renamed University of Ado-Ekiti (UNAD) before eventually becoming Ekiti State University (EKSU) in 2011.
