Federal Polytechnic, Damaturu  popularly known as Fed Poly Damaturu  is a Federal Government-owned polytechnic located along Maiduguri Road, opposite Government Girls College, Damaturu, Yobe State, Nigeria. The institution was established in May 1993 following the Federal Polytechnic Amendment Decree and admitted its first set of students on 25 September 1995.

Federal Polytechnic Damaturu focuses on providing technical, scientific, and entrepreneurial education aimed at producing middle-level technical manpower for national development. The institution currently operates multiple schools covering Engineering, Environmental Studies, Science & Technology, Management Studies, and General Studies.

History of the Institution

Federal Polytechnic Damaturu was established shortly after the creation of Yobe State when the government identified the need to strengthen technical education in the region. Plans initially began for a state polytechnic, but the Federal Government later approved the establishment of a Federal Polytechnic in Damaturu in 1993.

The Yobe State Government handed over the former Government College Damaturu site to the Federal Ministry of Education for the take-off of the polytechnic. The institution admitted 223 pioneer students offering Preliminary National Diploma programmes including:

Lectures officially commenced in October 1995. Since then, the polytechnic has expanded significantly in infrastructure, programmes, staff strength, and student population.

Federal Polytechnic Damaturu Admission List 2026/2027

Federal Polytechnic, Damaturu, has released its provisional admission list for the 2026/2027 academic session. Candidates who participated in the institution’s admission screening exercise can now check their admission status through the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS).

To check their status, candidates should visit the JAMB e-Facility portal and log in with their registered JAMB username and password. They should select Check Admission Status, click Access my CAPS, and open Regular Admission Status to check for an offer from Federal Polytechnic, Damaturu. Candidates who need assistance can consult the JAMB CAPS admission status guide.

Candidates offered admission should select Accept Admission or Reject Admission on JAMB CAPS. Alternatively, they can send ACCEPT or REJECT to 55019 or 66019 using the mobile number registered with JAMB. Candidates using the SMS option must have at least ₦50 in their main airtime balance, excluding borrowed airtime or Xtra Credit. Candidates offered a different course should review the request under Transfer Approval on CAPS and respond accordingly. Applicants are advised to check their JAMB profiles regularly and act promptly on admission and programme-transfer decisions.
