UNN ACE-SPED Postgraduate Admission 2026/2027

The Africa Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Power and Energy Development (ACE-SPED) at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), has invited applications for its 2026/2027 postgraduate programmes in sustainable energy, power systems, engineering and technology innovation.

The available programmes lead to M.Eng, M.Sc and Ph.D qualifications across areas including Renewable and New Energy Systems, Power Engineering, Sustainable Energy Materials Engineering, Industrial Electronics and Power Devices, Control and Instrumentation Engineering, Energy Policy, Regulation and Management, Engineering Design and Product Development, and Management of Technology and Innovation.

The stated duration is 18 months for the M.Sc programme and 36 months for the Ph.D programme. The Centre also indicated that limited scholarship opportunities are available for highly performing candidates. The University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) has released its admission list for the 2026/2027 academic session. Candidates who participated in the university’s admission screening exercise can now check their admission status through the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS).

To check your admission status, visit the JAMB e-Facility portal and log in with your registered email address and password. Select Check Admission Status, click Access my CAPS, and then select Admission Status to see whether you have been offered admission.

Candidates who receive an admission offer can accept or reject it by sending ACCEPT or REJECT via SMS to 55019 or 66019, using the phone number linked to their JAMB profile. Candidates are advised to respond within four weeks. Those who no longer have access to their registered phone number should visit a JAMB-accredited centre for assistance.

UNN Gets NUC Approval for 12 New Academic Programmes

The University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), has secured approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC) to commence 12 new full-time undergraduate programmes from the 2026/2027 academic session.

The newly approved programmes cut across Engineering, Nuclear Science, Health, Education and Information Technology. They include Automotive Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Nuclear Science, Pharmacology, Optometry, Health Care Administration and Hospital Management, Educational Management, Cyber Security, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Software Engineering and Information Technology.

The approval expands UNN’s undergraduate academic offerings in specialised and emerging areas. The university said the new programmes are expected to provide additional opportunities for students seeking training in fields aligned with current technological, scientific and healthcare needs.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Simon Uchenna Ortuanya, described the approval as an important step towards expanding access to university education and strengthening the institution’s capacity to respond to changing societal needs.
