Nigeria Maritime University JUPEB Admission Form is Out, 2026/2027

Nigeria Maritime University (NMU), Okerenkoko, Delta State, has commenced the sale of admission forms for its Joint Universities Preliminary Examinations Board (JUPEB) programme for the 2026/2027 academic session.

The JUPEB programme provides successful candidates with an opportunity to gain Direct Entry admission into 200-level undergraduate degree programmes after completion of the programme. Available courses cover Engineering, Environmental Management, Transport and Science disciplines.

NIMASA World Maritime Day Essay Competition 2026

The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has announced sponsorship of the 2026 World Maritime Day Essay Competition organised by SAMUELSON for eligible Year 1 and Year 2 students of tertiary institutions in Nigeria. The competition is open to students from universities, maritime academies and other recognised tertiary institutions.

Participants are required to write on the theme “From Policy to Practice: Powering Maritime Excellence”, focusing on how maritime policies can be effectively implemented to improve Nigeria’s maritime sector. The competition aims to encourage young Nigerians to contribute ideas on maritime development, safety, security and sustainability.

Eligible students must submit original essays in Microsoft Word format, with a maximum length of 1,200 words (±10%), using font size 12 and double spacing. Entries must not contain plagiarism, and the organisers stated that artificial intelligence must not be used in preparing the essay. Applicants are also required to attach proof of studentship, including a letter of admission and valid student identity card.

The essay submission deadline is 24 September 2026. Completed entries, together with proof of studentship, should be sent to both wmdessay@nimasa.gov.ng and mail@samuelson.com.ng. Winners will receive education grants, laptops, certificates and award plaques.

The University of Uyo (UNIUYO) has inaugurated the newly elected executives of its 32nd Students’ Union Government (SUG), officially beginning their tenure as representatives of the student body.

The inauguration ceremony for the Students’ Union executives and senators was held on Friday, 18 September 2026, at the 1,000-Seater TETFund Auditorium, Main Campus. The event was conducted in line with the directive from the university’s Student Affairs Division.

The newly inaugurated SUG executives include Sen. Michael Ebom as President, Comr. Deborah Edet as Vice President, and Comr. Ekomobong Archibong as Secretary General. Other members include Comr. UNIUYO GST Exam Registration Deadline September 19 2026

The University of Uyo (UNIUYO) has announced the deadline for registration for the 2025/2026 Second Semester General Studies (GST) examinations. The registration portal will close on Saturday, 19 September 2026, at 12:00 midnight, following approval by the Vice-Chancellor.
