Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology, Ikere-Ekiti  widely known as BOUESTI  is a state government-owned university located in Ikere-Ekiti, Ekiti State, South-West Nigeria. Established in 2020 following the upgrade of the College of Education, Ikere-Ekiti (COEIKERE) to a full-fledged university . The university is named after Chief Bamidele Olumilua, a former Governor of the old Ondo State. BOUESTI is funded and managed by the Ekiti State Government and has experienced dramatic growth, with student enrollment rising from over 2,400 at inception in 2020 to nearly 23,000 as of 2026 . The university offers undergraduate degree programmes across multiple faculties, as well as postgraduate programmes through its College of Postgraduate Studies . The current Vice-Chancellor is Professor Andrew Omojola . The university’s motto focuses on producing globally competitive, innovative, and entrepreneurial graduates .

History of the Institution

Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology, Ikere-Ekiti was established in 2020 by the Ekiti State Government following the upgrade of the College of Education, Ikere-Ekiti (COEIKERE) to a full-fledged university . The university was established under the Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology, Ikere-Ekiti Law .

The institution has experienced remarkable growth since its inception. From a modest enrollment of over 2,400 students in 2020, the university has grown to nearly 23,000 students as of 2026, a testament to increasing public confidence in the institution .

At its second convocation ceremony held on April 18, 2026, the university graduated 1,645 students, with 60 earning first class honours, 563 making second class upper division, 854 second class lower division, and 168 graduating with third class . The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Andrew Omojola, described the milestone as reflective of the university’s steady progress and commitment to excellence .

The university has achieved several landmark developments, including:

  • Construction of a multipurpose hall

  • Establishment of a College of Postgraduate Studies

  • Creation of a solar-powered technology hub offering 24-hour free internet access

At the 27th Nigerian Universities Games (NUGA), BOUESTI secured nine medals and ranked 14th among 97 universities . One of its students, Miss Phebe Oluwalade, represented Nigeria at the Africa Under-18 Handball Championship .
