Tai Solarin Federal University of Education, Ijagun (TASUED)  is a public university located in Ijagun, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, Nigeria. Established on 29 January 2005, TASUED is widely recognised as Nigeria’s first specialised University of Education and one of the leading teacher-training institutions in Africa. The university was originally founded by the Ogun State Government and was later adopted by the Federal Government in 2025. TASUED offers undergraduate, postgraduate, part-time, pre-degree, JUPEB, distance learning, and professional education programmes across several colleges.

History of the Institution

Tai Solarin University of Education was established in 2005 as a transformation of the former Tai Solarin College of Education. It was named after Dr. Tai Solarin, the renowned Nigerian educationist, activist, and founder of Mayflower School.

The institution became notable as the first university of education in Nigeria dedicated mainly to teacher education and educational development. Over the years, TASUED expanded into science, management, technology, arts, agriculture, and postgraduate studies while retaining its education-focused mission.

In March 2025, the Federal Government approved the takeover/adoption of TASUED, marking a major transition in its ownership and future development.

Admission Requirements

Undergraduate Admission

• Candidates must obtain five O’Level credits including English Language and Mathematics.

• Candidates must sit for the UTME conducted by JAMB.

• Applicants must select TASUED as their preferred institution during UTME registration.

• Candidates must participate in the Post-UTME screening exercise conducted by the university.

Direct Entry Admission

• Candidates must possess NCE, ND, HND, or equivalent qualifications.

• Applicants must apply through JAMB Direct Entry and complete the university screening process.

Post-UTME Information

Candidates seeking admission into TASUED are required to apply for the Post-UTME screening exercise through the university admission portal after meeting the required UTME score.

TASFUED Merit Post UTME Admission List 2026/2027 is Out

Tai Solarin Federal University of Education (TASUED) has released its admission list for the 2026/2027 academic session. Candidates who participated in the university’s Post UTME screening can now check their admission status to find out whether they have been offered a place.

Candidates can check their status through the TASFUED admission portal by logging into their dashboard with the email address and password used during registration. Admission status can also be confirmed through JAMB CAPS, which provides the official admission status recorded on the candidate’s JAMB profile.

Candidates who receive an admission offer should log in to JAMB CAPS to accept or reject the offer. After accepting the admission, they can proceed to print their JAMB admission letter, which may be required during subsequent registration and clearance processes.

Candidates whose status shows “Not Admitted” or “Admission in Progress” should not necessarily assume that they have lost their chance. Admission lists may be released in stages, so candidates are advised to check the TASFUED portal and JAMB CAPS regularly for updates. Those checking CAPS on a mobile phone may also need to enable desktop mode in their browser if the admission status page is not displayed properly.

Approximate tuition for fresh students ranges between ₦148,500 and ₦180,500 per academic session, depending on the course of study.
