Madonna University, Okija  widely known as MUO  is a private Catholic university located in Okija, Anambra State, South-East Nigeria. Established on May 10, 1999, Madonna University holds the distinction of being the first Catholic university in Nigeria . The university was founded by the Very Reverend Father Professor E.M.P. Edeh, who serves as the Chancellor . Madonna University is fully accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC) and operates on the motto “Decency in education and morals” . The institution has three campuses across Nigeria: the main campus in Okija (Anambra State), Elele Campus (Rivers State), and Akpugo Campus (Enugu State) . History of the Institution

Madonna University was established on May 10, 1999, by the Very Reverend Father Professor E.M.P. Edeh, a Catholic priest and academic . The university was founded as Nigeria’s first private Catholic university, with a mission to combine academic excellence with strong moral and religious values . The institution was created to provide quality tertiary education rooted in Catholic principles while meeting the educational needs of Nigerian students.

From its founding, Madonna University distinguished itself by establishing three strategically located campuses across the eastern states of Nigeria. The Okija Campus in Anambra State serves as the main campus, housing the Faculties of Management and Social Sciences, Arts and Education, and Law . The Elele Campus in Rivers State focuses on health sciences, housing the Faculties of Medicine and Surgery, and Pharmacology . The Akpugo Campus in Enugu State specialises in engineering education, housing the Faculty of Engineering with departments including Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, and Petroleum Engineering .

Admission Requirements

UTME (Undergraduate) Admission

  • A minimum of five (5) O’Level credit passes including English Language and Mathematics, obtained in not more than two sittings in WAEC, NECO, GCE O’Level, or NABTEB .

  • A valid JAMB UTME score meeting the minimum cut-off mark is required.

  • All eligible candidates must participate in the Madonna University Post-UTME screening exercise.

  • JAMB subject combinations must be relevant to the chosen course of study.

Direct Entry Admission

  • Candidates with relevant A’Level passes, ND (Upper Credit), HND, NCE, IJMB, or JUPEB qualifications may apply for Direct Entry into 200 Level .

JUPEB Programme Admission
