Interlink Polytechnic takes its origin from Interlink College of Technology & Business Studies (ICTBS), which is situated in Stratford, East London, United Kingdom . Over the years, ICTBS built an enviable reputation for itself in the delivery of a wide range of academic, professional and vocational qualifications in Management, Business and Computer Technology. ICTBS is in collaborative partnership with Newham College for Further Education, London, the British Accreditation Council (BAC) Oxford, Cambridge and the Royal Society of Arts (OCR), City & Guilds as well as Trinity College United Kingdom and Christ Church Canterbury University, which accredit ICTBS up to the Master of Business Administration (Doctorate) level .

The successes of ICTBS, London, and three other factors informed the decision to set up a similar but bigger tertiary institution in Nigeria :
