Niger Delta University  popularly known as NDU  is a public state university located in Amassoma, Wilberforce Island, Bayelsa State, Nigeria. Established in 2000, NDU is one of the leading universities in the Niger Delta region and serves as Bayelsa State’s premier university. History of the Institution

Niger Delta University was established in 2000 by the Bayelsa State Government to expand access to university education and promote human capital development in the Niger Delta region. The university was founded during the early years of Bayelsa State after the state’s creation in 1996.

Academic activities commenced shortly after establishment, and the institution steadily expanded from a few pioneer faculties into a multi-disciplinary university. Over the years, NDU has developed colleges in medicine, nursing sciences, pharmacy, engineering, law, and environmental sciences.

Today, the university has become one of the most recognised state universities in Southern Nigeria, attracting students from Bayelsa, Rivers, Delta, Akwa Ibom, Edo, and across the country.

NDU Reiterates “No Fees, No Exams Policy” Ahead of 2nd Semester Exams 2025/2026

Niger Delta University (NDU), Wilberforce Island, Bayelsa State, has reminded students of the university’s “No School Fees and Course Registration, No Exams” policy ahead of the second-semester examinations for the 2025/2026 academic session.

In a statement signed by the Registrar, Dr. Emmanuel Amaegbe, the university management reaffirmed that students must complete their school fee payments and course registration before they will be permitted to participate in the forthcoming examinations.

The management advised students who are yet to meet the requirements to either complete their payments and registration or explore available financial support options through the NELFUND or Bayelsa State Student Loan Support Schemes. Students who fail to comply with the directive will not be eligible to sit for the second-semester examinations.

Niger Delta University encouraged affected students to take prompt action to regularise their academic status before the examination period. The university noted that the policy is aimed at ensuring compliance with established administrative procedures and maintaining proper academic records.
