FUTA Top-Up Degree Programmes 2026/2027

The Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) has invited applications from suitably qualified candidates for admission into its Top-Up degree programmes for the 2026/2027 academic session. The programmes are available across selected schools and cover various disciplines in agriculture, engineering, environmental technology and life sciences.

The available programmes include Agricultural Extension and Communication Technology, Animal Production and Health, Crop, Soil and Pest Management, Ecotourism and Wildlife Management, Fisheries and Aquaculture Technology, Forestry and Wood Technology, Food Science and Technology, Nutrition and Dietetics, Computer Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Building, Estate Management, Quantity Surveying, Surveying and Geoinformatics, Urban and Regional Planning, Agricultural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Industrial and Production Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Mining Engineering, and Biochemistry.

Candidates must have at least five O’Level credit passes, including English Language and Mathematics, as well as an HND or Third Class degree in a relevant field. Applicants must also provide evidence of an NYSC Certificate or Exemption Letter.

FUTA Admission List Released on JAMB CAPS for 2026/2027 Session

The Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), has released its 2026/2027 admission list for candidates who participated in the university’s admission screening exercise. Applicants can now check their admission status through the JAMB Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS).

Candidates who applied for admission into FUTA are advised to visit the JAMB portal and log in with their registered email address and password to access their dashboard. To check the admission status, applicants should select “Check Admission Status,” proceed to “Access my CAPS,” and click on “Admission Status” to view their admission decision.

Candidates who receive an admission offer are required to accept or reject the offer through JAMB CAPS. Those who accept the offer should proceed to print their JAMB admission letter, as it may be required during the university’s clearance and registration process.

Candidates checking through mobile devices who cannot find the admission status option are advised to switch their browser to desktop mode for full access to the CAPS page. Successful candidates are encouraged to complete all necessary admission procedures within the stipulated period.

FUTA School Fees Payment Schedule 2026/2027

The Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) has released the schedule of charges payable by students for the 2026/2027 academic session. The schedule covers students from 200 Level to 500 Level, including newly admitted 200 Level students.

Tuition is listed as free for all the categories. However, students are required to pay other approved charges, with the total varying according to their level and status. The total charges are ₦281,000 for 200 Level fresh students, ₦83,000 for 200 Level students, ₦82,000 for 300 Level, ₦73,000 for 400 Level and ₦82,000 for 500 Level.

The charges cover items such as online registration, laboratory and workshop charges, examinations, medical services, sports, library, ICT development, school and departmental dues, municipal charges, students’ welfare insurance, Students’ Union fees and development levy. Fresh 200 Level students also have additional charges for items including caution fee, identity card, handbook, medical examination, endowment fund, orientation, matriculation and documentation, among others.

Additional charges apply to some programmes and activities. The schedule states that MBBS pre-clinical fees are ₦350,000, MBBS clinical fees are ₦450,000, MLS fees are ₦250,000, Public Health (PBH) fees are ₦200,000 and Nursing Sciences fees are ₦300,000. Field trip and some professional accreditation charges may vary by department, while Medical College dues are listed as ₦2,500.

FUTA Student Wins ₦4 Million Ondo State Grant

Daniel Segun Akinyiwola, a 400-level Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) student of the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA), has won a ₦4 million grant from the Ondo State Government through a statewide business-ideas initiative.

The initiative, which began in August, attracted entries from Ondo State indigenes across the 18 Local Government Areas. Following thousands of entries, 84 participants advanced to the final pitch stage, with Daniel emerging among the top 20 entrepreneurs selected for full institutional support.

Daniel’s health-tech startup, Golden Hour, is designed to help emergency patients identify the nearest hospital with the capacity to treat their specific medical condition. The project aims to support faster decision-making when patients require urgent medical attention.

The award package includes a ₦4 million business grant, a fully sponsored international business trip and tour, 12 months of idea incubation, expert mentoring and support from the Ondo State Government to launch the venture. The cheque was presented by the Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Dr Olayide Adelami, at the Dome Event Center in Akure on 19 September 2026.

As Golden Hour moves into full-scale development, Daniel is also seeking a skilled student developer to serve as Technical Lead. FUTA Vice-Chancellor, Professor Adenike Oladiji, described the achievement as a boost to the entrepreneurial drive of FUTA students.

FUTA Announces 209th Inaugural Lecture

The Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), has announced its 209th Inaugural Lecture, which will focus on the topic “Nutraceuticals and Functional Foods: Nature’s Answer to the Triology of Man.”

The lecture will be delivered by Professor Sule Ola Salawu, Professor of Food Biochemistry and Functional Foods, as part of the university’s inaugural lecture series aimed at showcasing academic research, discoveries and contributions to knowledge.

The event is scheduled to hold on Tuesday, 27 October 2026, at 3:00 pm prompt at the Obafemi Awolowo Auditorium, FUTA. Guests are expected to be seated by 2:45 pm.

The university has invited members of the academic community, students, researchers, friends of the university and the general public to attend the lecture and participate in the academic engagement.

FUTA Promotes 2 New Professors and 4 Readers

The Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) has promoted six members of its academic staff to the ranks of Professor and Reader in recognition of their contributions to teaching, research and academic development.

Two academics were elevated to the rank of Professor. They are Prof. John Isa of the School of Infrastructure, Mineral and Manufacturing Engineering (SIMME) and Prof. A. A. Fayetole of the School of Logistics and Innovation Technology (SLIT).

Four other members of staff were promoted to the rank of Reader. They are Dr. S. A. Malomo of the School of Agriculture and Agricultural Technology (SAAT), Dr. A. N. Abasilim of SLIT, Dr. H. E. Adesiji of the School of Physical Sciences (SPS), and Dr. M. K. Duromola of SPS.

According to the university, the promotions take effect from 1 October 2025, following administrative approval conveyed by the Registrar. FUTA congratulated the newly promoted academics on their achievements and contributions to the institution.
