The warning follows reports received by the institution about alleged admission scams targeting prospective students.

The university clarified that admission is not sold and that undergraduate and JUPEB admissions are not processed through agents, middlemen, WhatsApp groups or individuals claiming to have special connections within the institution. Applicants should therefore be cautious of anyone promising to “secure a spot” in exchange for personal payments.

Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic Consultancy Students’ Second Semester Examination Guidelines 2025/2026

Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic has announced examination guidelines for students enrolled in its Consultancy Programmes for the second semester of the 2025/2026 academic session. The examination timetable is available on the institution’s notice boards, with examinations scheduled to run from Monday, 2 November, to Wednesday, 18 November 2026. Students are advised to comply with Section 9 of the Students’ Handbook throughout the examination period.

All students must attend examinations with their student identity cards and evidence of school fees payment. Attendance will be based on the list of registered students in each programme, while extra-time and carry-over students must identify themselves clearly. Students should fill in their details in their answer booklets immediately after receiving them. Morning examinations will run from 9:00 a.m. to 12 noon, while afternoon papers will hold from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Students arriving 30 minutes after an examination has commenced risk forfeiting the paper.

Students must enter examination halls with only their identification documents and writing materials. Bags, phones, earpods, electronic watches and other prohibited items are not allowed. Candidates are also warned against possessing examination-related materials, impersonation, writing examinations for others, fighting or resisting examination monitoring staff. The institution states that impersonation may lead to expulsion for the student being impersonated, while the impersonator may face police arrest and expulsion. Other forms of examination misconduct will be handled in accordance with the Students’ Handbook.

Complaints about courses that were not taught or completed should be reported through the appropriate Head of Department or the Directorate responsible for examinations and records (DEMR) before the examination. Students must not disrupt examinations, and any changes to examination dates, venues or invigilators will be communicated through the appropriate channels. Lecturers are not expected to invigilate their own courses except by special assignment or during practical examinations. Students who have paid their school fees and presented evidence of payment should not be sent out of examinations over departmental or association dues, textbooks, manuals, laboratory coats, assignments or other sundry payments; such incidents should be reported to DEMR. Students are also expected to dress decently, maintain order and respect the right of others to write examinations in a peaceful environment. All candidates are urged to avoid examination malpractice and are wished success in their examinations.

Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic Bans Graduating Students’ Sign-Out Fanfare

Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua, Ikot Ekpene, has reaffirmed its ban on sign-out fanfare by graduating students, warning that students who violate the directive will face severe disciplinary action. The institution issued the reminder in a circular dated 5 October 2026, signed by the Acting Registrar, Godswill E. Udofah, MNIM.

The Polytechnic said the ban was initially introduced in a 15 September 2025 circular following disruptions to peace on campus and complaints from various organisations over the alleged abuse of their professional outfits during sign-out activities. Management noted that some students have continued to engage in the prohibited activities despite the existing directive.

The institution has therefore directed all graduating students to comply strictly with the ban, stressing that sign-out fanfare contravenes its rules and regulations. Management described the latest circular as a final warning and urged students to take the directive seriously.

Students found violating the ban will be handed over to relevant security agencies for prosecution and may have their studentship withdrawn. The Polytechnic also directed that the circular be given wide publicity among students to ensure that all graduating students are aware of the consequences of violating the directive.

Taraba State College of Health Technology, Takum (TSCHT) is a state-owned health training institution located in Takum, Taraba State, Nigeria. LASUSTECH Certificate Collection Notice for Former Lagos State Polytechnic Graduates

The management of Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) has asked graduates of the former Lagos State Polytechnic who completed their programmes between 1979 and 2021 but are yet to collect their certificates to do so within the stipulated period.

The certificate collection exercise will run from 1 October to 31 December 2026, between 9:00am and 2:00pm. Concerned graduates are required to visit the Examinations and Records Unit of the Registry Department of LASUSTECH to collect their certificates.

The university also stated that the existing certificate collection fee will be reviewed upwards after the three-month period. Graduates affected by the notice are therefore advised to complete the collection within the stated period to avoid paying the revised fee.

Notable Alumni

LASUSTECH is a relatively young university, having been established in 2022, but its institutional heritage extends to Lagos State Polytechnic, its predecessor. Consequently, many graduates and former students associated with the institution’s predecessor have gone on to work across technical, professional, business, public-service and other sectors.

History of the Institution

Akanu Ibiam Federal Polytechnic, Unwana was established by the Federal Government of Nigeria in 1981, with Engr. Dr. O.B. Epelle as its pioneer Rector. Academic activities began in 1982 at a temporary site at the former Federal Government College, Okposi. On April 30, 1982, the foundation stone was laid by the then Vice-President of Nigeria, Dr. Alex Ekwueme.

The first set of students was admitted on May 27, 1982, with programmes in Business Administration, Secretarial Studies, Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technology, and Mechanical Engineering Technology. Over four decades later, the polytechnic has grown into a comprehensive technical institution with 27 academic departments spread across six schools, and has produced over thirty graduating sets.

Akanu Ibiam Polytechnic Academic Calendar 2026/2027 Released

Akanu Ibiam Polytechnic has released the approved academic calendar for the 2026/2027 session, covering major activities for both the first and second semesters. Students are advised to take note of the resumption, registration, lectures, tests, examinations, matriculation and other important dates.

The first semester begins on 10 October 2026, with course registration and new students’ registration starting on 12 October. The Federal University Gusau (FUGUS) has released its First Batch Admission List for the 2026/2027 academic session. Candidates who applied for admission can click here to view the list. Federal University Gusau Resumption Date for 2026/2027 Academic Session

The management of the Federal University Gusau (FUGUS) has announced the resumption schedule for the 2026/2027 academic session. The notice applies to all staff and students of the university, with different dates provided for returning and newly admitted students.

All staff and students are expected to resume on Monday, 16 November 2026. Registration for returning students will also commence on the same date, while lectures for returning students are scheduled to begin on Monday, 23 November 2026.

For new students, registration and lectures will commence on Monday, 7 December 2026. The university management has urged all staff and students to take note of the announced dates and ensure compliance with the resumption schedule.

FUGUS SRC Disclaimer on Approved Student Association Dues

The Students’ Representative Council (SRC) of the Federal University Gusau (FUGUS) has issued a disclaimer on the collection of dues by Departments, Faculties and recognised Student Associations. The SRC stated that the approved dues remain ₦500 for the respective authorised student bodies.

According to the notice, only duly recognised and authorised Departments, Faculties and Student Associations are permitted to collect the approved dues from students. Unauthorised bodies, groups or individuals are not allowed to collect such payments.

The SRC also warned that no authorised body should impose any additional charge or request an amount above the approved ₦500 under the guise of student association dues. All concerned bodies have been directed to ensure transparency and accountability in the collection process.

The Council stated that any violation of the directive will be addressed through the appropriate administrative channels and urged all concerned students and associations to comply with the approved arrangement.

History of the Institution

The history of Abraham Adesanya Polytechnic can be traced back to 1979, when it was established by the government of the late Chief Olabisi Onabanjo due to the yearnings of the leaders of Ijebu-Igbo for a tertiary institution in the town. However, the institution did not last beyond one and a half years.

For decades, Ijebu-Igbo — a historically significant and commercially active community in Ogun State — was without a polytechnic institution. Fortune smiled on Ijebu-Igbo in 2005 when the law re-establishing the polytechnic was passed as Edict 31 of the Ogun State House of Assembly, naming it “The Polytechnic, Ijebu-Igbo”.

In 2009, the Ogun State House of Assembly passed another edict — Edict 37 of 2009 — to change the name of the institution to “Abraham Adesanya Polytechnic” in honour of the late Senator Chief Abraham Aderibigbe Adesanya, a prominent son of Ijebu-Igbo, a lawyer, and a senator who represented the Ogun State community during the Second Republic in Nigeria.

Abraham Adesanya Poly Resumption Date and Registration Procedure 2026/2027

Abraham Adesanya Polytechnic has announced the resumption of all fresh students, comprising ND I and HND I students, for the 2026/2027 academic session. The Polytechnic stated that the new students formally resumed on Monday, 28 September 2026.

Fresh students are expected to begin their registration immediately by paying the acceptance fee and other required charges. They must also print their JAMB admission letter through the JAMB portal before proceeding with the Polytechnic’s registration and credential verification process.

Students are required to visit the Polytechnic portal, access the Dashboard, select Printable Forms, and download the Verification of Credentials Form. They should then proceed to the Admissions Unit for credential verification and signing of the form, complete the required signing at the designated offices, and visit the School Office to obtain their registration package.

After obtaining the registration package, fresh students are expected to complete and submit their registration files with the required documents before proceeding to the Students’ Portal for course registration. They should print their Course Form and Examination Pass after completing the process. The Polytechnic advised students to complete their registration before the registration portal closes, as the exercise is time-bound.

Abraham Adesanya Polytechnic SUG Fee Reduced to N3,500

The Students’ Union Government (SUG) of Abraham Adesanya Polytechnic has announced an adjustment to the Students’ Union fee following consultations and a review with the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) and the Polytechnic Management.
