Federal Polytechnic, Ukana popularly known as Fed Poly Ukana  is a Federal Government-owned polytechnic located in Ukana, Essien Udim Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. Established in 2014, the institution is one of Nigeria’s newer federal polytechnics created to expand access to technical and vocational education in the South-South region.

The Polytechnic offers National Diploma (ND) and expanding Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes across engineering, applied sciences, environmental studies, and management disciplines. It is accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and is known for its focus on skills-based education and practical training.

History of the Institution

Federal Polytechnic, Ukana was established in 2014 by the Federal Government of Nigeria as part of efforts to strengthen technical education and manpower development across the country.

Located along the Ikot Ekpene–Abak Road, the institution began with a limited number of programmes and has steadily expanded its academic offerings and infrastructure.

In recent years, the Polytechnic has received NBTE approval to commence additional programmes, reflecting its growth and commitment to providing industry-relevant education.

The institution operates with a vision centered on innovation, skills acquisition, and technological advancement, aiming to produce graduates who are self-reliant and globally competitive.
