UNIABUJA Applications For Professional And Postgraduate Programmes 2025/2026

The Sultan Maccido Institute for Peace, Leadership and Development Studies at the University of Abuja (UNIABUJA), now Yakubu Gowon University, has opened applications for its professional and postgraduate programmes for the 2025/2026 academic session.

The Institute stated that applications are open to candidates from diverse academic and professional backgrounds, including Engineering, Health Sciences, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, Management, Arts, Military and Paramilitary services, Agriculture, Education, Taxation, and Law. EducationNGR also learnt that the programmes are structured to accommodate both academic and professional career paths.

Admission Requirements

Applicants must meet the following general requirements:

• Five O’ Level credit passes, including English Language and Mathematics, obtained at WASC, NECO, GCE, or equivalent, in not more than two sittings

• A Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with a minimum of Second Class Lower

• For PGD programmes, a minimum of Lower Credit in HND or its equivalent may be accepted

• NYSC discharge certificate or exemption letter

• For Professional PhD programmes, candidates must possess a basic degree, a professional Master’s degree, and an MSc in a relevant field

The Institute noted that all applicants will undergo a screening exercise to confirm eligibility.

Programme Duration

• Postgraduate Diploma: 9 to 24 calendar months

• Master’s degree: 12 to 18 calendar months

• Professional PhD: 36 to 60 calendar months

• Certificate courses: 12 calendar months
