History of the Institution
MAUTH College of Nursing Sciences, Yola, is a recent establishment within the Modibbo Adama University Teaching Hospital. In August 2024, the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) conducted a comprehensive evaluation of the hospital’s resources and infrastructure to assess its preparedness to establish a College of Nursing Science . This assessment encompassed existing facilities, structures, and manpower.
At the time of the NMCN assessment, the hospital had already established and was running Post Basic Accident and Emergency Nursing and Post Basic Perioperative Nursing programmes . The NMCN team commended the hospital’s overall cleanliness, improved infrastructure, and manpower, noting that the environment was conducive to learning . The team also applauded the synergy between MAUTH Yola and the Adamawa State College of Nursing and Midwifery Yola as an enabling catalyst for the success of the Post Basic Nursing Training Programmes run by the hospital .
Following the successful accreditation by NMCN, the college has continued to grow. The college has successfully undergone an accreditation exercise by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) for its National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes in Nursing and Midwifery .
