The institution is one of the major nursing training colleges in Ogun State and operates under the supervision of the Ogun State Government and the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN).

History of the Institution

The School of Nursing Idi-Aba Abeokuta Campus has existed since 1976 as an offshoot of the old School of Nursing Eleyele during the old Western State era. For several decades, the institution operated primarily as a hospital-based nursing training school under the Ogun State Ministry of Health.

Following reforms by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria requiring nursing schools to transition into tertiary education institutions, the school evolved into the Ogun State College of Nursing Sciences (OGCON). The institution now operates as a full College of Nursing Sciences with accredited programmes across multiple campuses including Abeokuta, Ijebu-Ode, and Ilaro.
