Sure Foundation Polytechnic  widely known as SFP  is a private tertiary institution located in Ikot Akai, Ukanafun Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State, South-South Nigeria . History of the Institution

Sure Foundation Polytechnic was established as a private polytechnic with the vision of providing quality technical and vocational education to the people of Akwa Ibom State and the South-South region of Nigeria. The institution holds the distinction of being the FIRST private polytechnic in Akwa Ibom State to commence operations with the full approval and license of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and the Federal Ministry of Education (FME) .

The founder, Dr. Idongesit Udom, a retired manager with Exxon Mobil and a native of Ukanafun, established the polytechnic as a philanthropic investment in his community. The institution represents a significant private investment in rural education, providing opportunities for young Nigerians who might otherwise struggle to gain admission into tertiary institutions .

In April 2017, Dr. Udom was abducted by gunmen while leaving his house for a church opposite his residence. He was released after 32 days in captivity, but his right hand was amputated by his kidnappers . Despite this tragic incident, the polytechnic has continued to operate and serve its students, with the founder expressing gratitude for his survival and commitment to the institution .
