Glorious Vision University (GVU)  formerly known as Samuel Adegboyega University (SAU)  is a private Christian university located in Ogwa, Edo State, Nigeria. It was established in 2011 by The Apostolic Church Nigeria, Lagos, Western and Northern Areas (LAWNA) Territory . The university received its license from the Federal Government of Nigeria on March 7, 2011, as the 45th private university and 117th overall in the Nigerian university system . GVU has two campuses: the main campus in Ogwa, Edo State, and a campus in Orishigun, Ketu, Lagos State . The university’s motto is To Nurture for Discipline & Excellence . The current Vice-Chancellor is Professor Idowu Babatunde .

History of the Institution

Glorious Vision University was founded by The Apostolic Church Nigeria, LAWNA Territory, and was originally named after the first Nigerian Superintendent of the church, Pastor Samuel Gbadebo Adegboyega . The institution received its licence on March 7, 2011, and took off its first academic session in 2011/2012. The inaugural class, consisting of 58 students, graduated in September 2015 .

On May 30, 2018, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Bernard Aigbokhan, reiterated that all 14 academic programs presented to the National Universities Commission (NUC) in 2016 were given full accreditation . On August 31, 2018, the NUC approved 13 postgraduate programmes for the university with effect from the 2018/2019 academic session .

In 2022, the NUC approved the university’s request for a name change, and Samuel Adegboyega University was officially renamed Glorious Vision University . The university has continued to expand its academic offerings, receiving NUC approval for additional programmes, including Software Engineering, Petroleum Economics and Policy Studies, Political Science, Peace and Conflict Studies, Social Work, and Employment Relations and Human Resource Management .

Admission Requirements

UTME (Undergraduate) Admission

  • A minimum of five (5) O’Level credit passes including English Language and Mathematics, obtained in not more than two sittings in WAEC, NECO, GCE O’Level, or NABTEB

  • A valid JAMB UTME score meeting GVU’s minimum cut-off mark is required

  • Candidates must be at least 16 years of age at the time of admission

  • Candidates must select Glorious Vision University as their first choice institution in JAMB

  • Candidates must complete the GVU online application through the school portal 

Note: Candidates who did not select GVU as their first choice can visit any approved JAMB CBT centre to request a change of institution before applying .

Direct Entry Admission

Candidates with relevant A’Level passes, ND (Upper Credit), HND, NCE, JUPEB, or IJMB qualifications may apply for Direct Entry into 200 Level. Relevant O’Level credit requirements apply in addition.

Special Note – Tuition-Free Programmes:
Religious Studies and Philosophy are tuition-free at the undergraduate level. Students in these programmes only pay other charges (registration, ICT, medical, etc.), not tuition .
