FUNATO Sets Resumption Date, Releases Key Decisions For 2025/2026 Session

The Federal University of Agriculture and Technology, Okeho (FUNATO), has issued an official notice to the general public, particularly candidates offered admission for the 2025/2026 academic session who have already paid the acceptance fee.

The announcement followed the University Senate’s 1st (Inaugural) Statutory Meeting held on 4 February 2026, where reports from the University Management and the Committee of Deans and Directors on preparedness for student resumption were considered. The meeting resulted in several decisions aimed at ensuring a smooth academic resumption and improved student welfare.

FUNATO Resumption Date

The university confirmed that academic activities for the 2025/2026 session will commence on 6 March 2026.

Key Decisions Announced By The Senate

Approved Academic Calendar

The Senate approved the academic calendar for the 2025/2026 session. The full calendar is available via the official university link: FUNATO 2025/2026 academic calendar.

Allocation Of Matriculation Numbers

FUNATO announced that matriculation numbers will soon be allocated to candidates who have paid the acceptance fee. The matriculation number will enable affected students to proceed with payment of school fees and complete their registration as bona fide FUNATO students. EducationNGR also learnt that further registration steps will be communicated once allocation begins.

Hostel Accommodation Arrangements

The university stated that arrangements have been made to provide hostel accommodation through a public–private partnership model. Under this arrangement, accommodation will be made available within communities around the university for a substantial number of students.

According to FUNATO, the hostels will be offered at reasonable rent rates, with university regulation and security measures in place. Details on application and allocation procedures are expected to be announced in due course.

Ongoing Admission Exercise

The university noted that its admission process is still open to interested candidates, as the JAMB portal remains available for change of institution. Candidates who make FUNATO their preferred institution are required to proceed to the university website for online screening.

Applicants have been advised to ensure they meet the admission requirements for their chosen programmes before completing the screening process.

Message To Prospective Students

The Vice-Chancellor and members of the University Senate congratulated prospective students and expressed optimism for a smooth and successful resumption for the new academic session.
