The institution was established in February 1992 to provide technical, scientific, and management education aimed at producing skilled manpower for national development.

History of the Institution
Federal Polytechnic, Ede came into existence in February 1992 following the Federal Government decree establishing technical institutions across Nigeria. The institution was created to expand access to technical and vocational education and to produce middle-level manpower for technological and industrial development.
