Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku – DSPG

Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku is a state-owned tertiary institution located in Ogwashi-Uku, Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State, Nigeria. Established in 2002 by the Delta State Government, the polytechnic was created to expand access to technical and vocational education in the state and produce skilled middle-level manpower for industrial and technological development. History of the Institution

Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku was established in 2002 by the Delta State Government under its educational expansion policy aimed at increasing access to technical and vocational education across the state. The institution was strategically located in Ogwashi-Uku, a historic town in Delta State known for its cultural heritage and educational significance.

At inception, the polytechnic began with a small number of academic programmes and departments focused on basic technological and management education. Over time, it expanded its academic structure to include multiple schools, such as Engineering Technology, Science and Technology, Business Studies, Environmental Studies, and Art and Design.

Since its establishment, the institution has undergone several phases of infrastructural and academic development, including NBTE accreditation exercises that led to the approval and expansion of ND and HND programmes. The polytechnic also strengthened its ICT infrastructure through the introduction of an online portal system for admission processing, fee payments, course registration, and result checking.

In recent years, Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku has continued to benefit from state government interventions aimed at improving laboratories, lecture halls, ICT centres, and student facilities, reinforcing its role as a key institution for technical education in Delta State.

Admission Requirements

ND (National Diploma) Admission

Five (5) credit passes in WAEC/NECO/NABTEB including English Language and Mathematics
Relevant subject combinations depending on course of study
Candidates must sit for JAMB UTME
Must meet departmental cut-off requirements during screening

HND (Higher National Diploma) Admission

ND certificate in a relevant discipline from an NBTE-accredited institution
Minimum of Lower Credit (in most cases)
One year industrial training (IT/SIWES) experience
Five O’Level credits including English and Mathematics
