The Kwara State University (KWASU) has rolled out the academic calendar for the 2025–2026 session. It covers both the Harmattan and Rain semesters, giving students and staff a clear roadmap of what lies ahead. From registration to lectures, breaks to examinations, every step has been fixed on paper, leaving little room for confusion.

Harmattan Semester Schedule

The Harmattan semester kicks off in September with registration and orientation. Freshers and returning students have slightly different timelines, so it is wise to keep an eye on the dates.

  • Monday, 29th September – Saturday, 18th October 2025: Online registration and orientation begin.
  • Sunday, 19th October 2025: Registration ends for returning students.
  • Monday, 20th October 2025: Lectures commence.
  • Monday, 20th October – Saturday, 22nd November 2025: Late registration for returning students.
  • Friday, 31st October 2025: Registration closes for new students.
  • Thursday, 4th December 2025: Matriculation day for undergraduates.
  • Monday, 15th – Saturday, 20th December 2025: Continuous assessment week.
  • Monday, 22nd – Tuesday, 23rd December 2025: Mid-semester break.
  • Saturday, 10th January 2026: Lectures end.
  • Monday, 12th – Saturday, 17th January 2026: Revision week.
  • Monday, 19th January – Saturday, 14th February 2026: Examinations hold.
  • Tuesday, 24th February 2026: Departmental results considered and uploaded.

Rain Semester Schedule

The Rain semester comes right after, and the dates show another full stretch of academic activities.

  • Monday, 16th – Monday, 30th March 2026: Add or drop of courses.
  • Monday, 23rd March 2026: Lectures start.
  • Thursday, 14th – Friday, 15th May 2026: Mid-semester break.
  • Monday, 18th – Saturday, 23rd May 2026: Continuous assessment week and make-up tests.
  • Saturday, 13th June 2026: Lectures close.
  • Monday, 15th – Saturday, 20th June 2026: Revision week.
  • Monday, 22nd June – Saturday, 18th July 2026: Examinations run.

It is a tidy outline of what students and staff can expect, from the first day of class right down to the last paper written. One could say it is the backbone of the school year, guiding both old and new faces through the months ahead.

First Semester at Heritage Polytechnic

The first semester begins in early October, stretching into the new year before wrapping up with examinations.

  • October 6, 2025 – January 30, 2026: Lectures for the first semester run.
  • October 20, 2025: HODs submit lists for project supervision.
  • November 24 – November 28, 2025: Lecturers turn in questions and marking guides.
  • December 8, 2025: Exam timetables published by HODs.
  • December 11, 2025: Orientation for fresh students.
  • December 22, 2025 – January 11, 2026: Christmas break, three weeks of rest and family time.
  • January 26 – January 30, 2026: Lectures, revision, and final tests before exams.
  • February 2 – February 13, 2026: First semester examinations.

Batch B begins lectures on February 9, 2026, while marking for Batch A exam scripts starts on February 16, 2026. Results follow in early March.

Second Semester Plans

The second semester takes off not long after the first closes, with students shifting gear almost instantly.

  • March 30 – July 3, 2026: Lectures run for the second semester.
  • April 6 – April 10, 2026: Students’ Week, capped with matriculation and convocation on April 10.
  • April 6 – April 17, 2026: Marking of Batch B exams.
  • May 11 – May 15, 2026: Submission of exam questions and marking guides.
  • June 15, 2026: Exam timetables released.
  • June 29 – July 3, 2026: Revision and tests.
  • July 6 – July 17, 2026: Examinations begin.
  • July 20, 2026: Marking starts, and ND I students proceed on SIWES.

Project defence is scheduled for August 3 – August 6, 2026, with results submitted the same week.

Summer Semester Details

For those who opt in, the Summer semester has its own timetable.

  • August 3, 2026: Registration begins.
  • August 10 – September 11, 2026: Summer lectures.
  • September 14 – September 25, 2026: Summer examinations.
  • September 28 – October 2, 2026: Marking of Summer exams, with results due October 2, 2026.

The new academic year begins on October 5, 2026, barely giving anyone a pause.
