Fellowship opportunities are available across several fields, including public health, medicine, education, journalism, technology, agriculture, climate change, governance, human rights, entrepreneurship, international development and scientific research. Some programmes focus on academic research and postgraduate study, while others support emerging leaders, community advocates, journalists, innovators and professionals seeking to expand their impact.

Fully funded programmes may cover travel, accommodation, living expenses, training costs and research activities. Other fellowships provide stipends, grants or partial financial assistance, while some offer professional development and mentorship without comprehensive funding. Eligibility requirements also differ between programmes. Some fellowships accept final-year university students and recent graduates, while others require several years of professional experience, a postgraduate qualification or demonstrated expertise in a particular field. Applicants may need to provide a curriculum vitae (CV), academic transcripts, a personal statement, recommendation letters, a research proposal or evidence of previous work. Leadership experience, community involvement and a clear explanation of how the fellowship aligns with the applicant’s goals may also be important selection criteria.

Fellowship application deadlines are determined by individual organisers. Some programmes open applications annually, while others announce opportunities according to funding availability and project schedules. Prospective applicants should begin preparing their documents early, monitor official announcements and ensure that all application requirements are met before the closing date.

Applicants should verify fellowship announcements through official programme websites and recognised institutional channels. Internship Programmes Eligibility, Deadline and How to Apply
Internship Programmes Eligibility, Deadline and How to Apply

Internship programmes provide Nigerian students, recent graduates and young professionals across Africa with opportunities to gain practical work experience, develop professional skills and prepare for the job market. While academic qualifications are important, many employers also look for candidates who can demonstrate practical knowledge, communication skills, teamwork and the ability to solve real-world problems. An internship can help bridge the gap between classroom learning and workplace expectations.

Internship opportunities are available in various sectors, including technology, engineering, medicine, public health, agriculture, finance, law, media, education, business administration, international development and environmental sustainability. Depending on the organisation, an internship may take place in an office, laboratory, hospital, research centre or remotely. Some programmes are designed specifically for undergraduate students, while others accept recent graduates, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members and young professionals seeking relevant experience.

Internships for Nigerian Students

Nigerian students can explore internship opportunities offered by private companies, government agencies, research institutions, non-governmental organisations, international organisations and technology companies. African students may also qualify for regional and international internship programmes organised by institutions such as the African Union, the United Nations, the World Bank and other development organisations. However, eligibility varies by programme, and some opportunities are restricted by nationality, academic discipline, study level or country of residence.

Internships may be paid or unpaid. Some organisations provide monthly stipends, transport allowances, accommodation support or other benefits, while others offer professional training without financial compensation. Applicants should carefully review the programme description to understand its duration, location, financial arrangements and expected responsibilities before applying.

To improve their chances of selection, prospective applicants should prepare an updated curriculum vitae (CV), a well-written cover letter and relevant academic documents. Some programmes may also require a statement of purpose, academic transcripts, references, writing samples or evidence of technical skills. Applicants should follow the official application instructions and submit their documents before the stated deadline.

Students and graduates should also be cautious when searching for internship opportunities online. Genuine programmes normally provide verifiable information about the host organisation, eligibility requirements, application procedures and deadlines. Applicants should confirm opportunities through official websites and avoid paying suspicious fees to individuals who promise guaranteed placements.

EducationNGR provides information about internship programmes that may be relevant to Nigerian students and other Africans. This page is intended to help applicants discover opportunities, understand application requirements and identify programmes that match their academic backgrounds and career interests. Since internship openings change throughout the year, applicants should check the official programme pages regularly for updates and confirm that applications are still open before submitting their details.

Graduate Trainee Programmes
Graduate Trainee Programmes: Eligibility, Deadline and How to Apply

Graduate trainee programmes provide recent graduates with opportunities to develop professional skills, gain practical work experience and begin their careers in structured workplace environments. These programmes are commonly organised by private companies, banks, government agencies, manufacturing firms, telecommunications providers, energy companies and other employers seeking to recruit and train young talent.

In Nigeria, graduate trainee programmes are available across several industries, including banking and finance, engineering, information technology, telecommunications, oil and gas, fast-moving consumer goods, healthcare, agriculture and business management. Some employers also recruit graduates for roles in human resources, accounting, marketing, sales, logistics and customer service. Across other African countries, similar programmes help graduates transition from university education into professional employment.

Unlike conventional entry-level vacancies, graduate trainee programmes often combine classroom instruction, on-the-job training, mentoring, departmental rotations and practical assignments. Participants may work with experienced professionals, learn how organisations operate and develop technical and leadership skills relevant to their chosen careers. Depending on the employer, a programme may last several months or extend beyond one year. Some organisations offer permanent employment to successful trainees after completing the programme, although retention is not guaranteed unless the employer explicitly states the terms.

Eligibility requirements vary by organisation and position. Many programmes accept applicants with a bachelor’s degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in relevant disciplines, while some specify particular courses, minimum grades or a minimum CGPA. Other employers may require applicants to have completed the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme or possess a valid exemption certificate. Age limits, graduation-year restrictions and professional qualifications may also apply to certain vacancies.

Applicants should read each recruitment announcement carefully before submitting an application. Common requirements include an updated curriculum vitae (CV), educational certificates, academic transcripts and valid identification. Some employers conduct online aptitude tests, numerical and verbal reasoning assessments, technical examinations, interviews, assessment-centre exercises or background checks as part of their selection process.

Graduate trainee recruitment does not follow a single national application calendar. Employers announce vacancies at different times of the year, and application deadlines depend on the individual recruitment exercise. Candidates should regularly check company career pages, official recruitment portals and verified announcements to identify programmes that are currently accepting applications.

Applicants should also be cautious of fraudulent recruitment messages. Genuine opportunities should be verifiable through the employer’s official website or recognised recruitment channels. Be wary of anyone requesting money in exchange for a guaranteed job offer, interview invitation or selection into a graduate trainee programme.

EducationNGR provides information about graduate trainee opportunities that may be relevant to Nigerian graduates and other young professionals across Africa. Candidates should confirm the eligibility criteria, application procedure, location, benefits and closing date directly with the recruiting organisation before applying.

Oando Energy Resources Tertiary Scholarship: Eligibility, Requirements and How to Apply
Oando Energy Resources Tertiary Scholarship: Eligibility, Requirements and How to Apply

The NEPL/OERNL Joint Venture, through Oando Energy Resources Nigeria Limited, provides a tertiary scholarship programme for eligible undergraduate students in Nigeria.

The scheme is intended to provide financial support to students who meet the stated academic and eligibility requirements. It includes opportunities for students from selected host and transit communities as well as eligible undergraduates from other parts of Nigeria.

For students considering the scholarship, the most important things to understand are who can apply, which documents are required, how the selection process works and where to submit an application.

About The Oando Energy Resources Scholarship

The Oando Energy Resources tertiary scholarship is part of the company’s broader corporate social responsibility activities. The programme supports undergraduate education and provides an opportunity for eligible students to receive financial assistance towards their studies.

There are two main categories under the scheme: the Host/Transit Communities Merit Award and the National Merit Award.

The requirements and application dates announced by the scholarship organisers can change from one application cycle to another. Applicants should therefore check the current application information before submitting their forms.

Scholarship Categories

Host/Transit Communities Merit Award

This category is intended for eligible students from Oando host or transit communities in:

  • Rivers State
  • Bayelsa State
  • Delta State
  • Imo State

Students applying under this category may need to provide additional evidence confirming their connection to the relevant community.

National Merit Award

The National Merit Award is intended for eligible undergraduate students from across Nigeria who fall outside the host and transit community category.

This means that students who are not from the specified host communities may still be considered under the national category, provided they meet the other requirements.

Who Is Eligible To Apply?

For the 2026/2027 scholarship cycle, applicants are required to:

  • Be registered as full-time undergraduate students in a recognised Nigerian tertiary institution.
  • Be in 100 Level at the time of application.
  • Meet any other requirements specified by the scholarship organisers for the current application cycle.

Being a 100-Level student is particularly important because students already in 200 Level or above are not eligible under the stated criteria for this application cycle.

Applicants should always read the requirements on the official application portal before submitting an application, as eligibility conditions may be updated for future scholarship cycles.

Who Cannot Apply?

The scholarship is not intended for everyone currently studying in a Nigerian tertiary institution. Under the stated requirements, the following applicants are not eligible:

  • Students in 200 Level or above.
  • Students already benefiting from another scholarship provided by a company or agency.
  • Dependants of staff members of Oando PLC or its subsidiaries.

If you fall into one of these categories, it is better to confirm your position from the current official guidelines before beginning an application.

Documents Required

Applicants may be required to provide scanned copies of documents that establish their identity, academic status and eligibility.

For the 2026/2027 application cycle, the listed documents include:

  • Recent passport photograph with a white background.
  • School identity card.
  • O’Level result.
  • Admission letter.
  • Birth certificate.
  • Proof of Local Government Area of origin.
  • Community identification letter, where applicable to host community applicants.
  • JAMB result.
  • Other supporting documents requested during the application.

Before uploading any document, applicants should make sure that the information is clear and readable. It is also important to use documents belonging to the applicant and to ensure that names and other personal details are consistent across the documents where applicable.

The exact document requirements should be checked again when the scholarship opens for a new application cycle.

How The Selection Process Works

The scholarship selection process includes an aptitude test for shortlisted applicants.

Candidates who are shortlisted are expected to participate in an online aptitude test. For the 2026/2027 cycle, applicants are required to obtain a minimum score of 50% to qualify for the next stage.

Passing the stated test requirement does not necessarily mean that every applicant will receive the scholarship. Candidates who successfully progress through the selection process may be contacted for subsequent stages.

Applicants should therefore monitor the contact details and communication channels they provide during registration.

How To Apply For The Oando Energy Resources Scholarship

Applications are submitted online through the designated scholarship application portal.

For the 2026/2027 application cycle, applications opened on 3 March 2026 and closed on 1 April 2026.

Applicants should use the official application channel provided by the scholarship organisers rather than relying on links shared through unofficial social media pages or third-party websites.

Official application portal: Oando Energy Resources Scholarship Application Portal

For a future application cycle, EducationNGR will update the application year, dates and official application link when the new information is announced.

Application Dates

The application period is one of the details that can change each year.

For the 2026/2027 academic session, the announced dates were:

  • Application Opens: 3 March 2026
  • Application Closes: 1 April 2026

Applicants should not assume that these dates will remain the same in another year. When a new application cycle is announced, check the latest dates before starting your application.

What Applicants Should Know Before Applying

A scholarship application is not simply about filling in an online form. Small mistakes can create problems, particularly when an application requires several supporting documents.

Before applying, it is useful to:

  1. Confirm your eligibility first. Make sure your level of study, institution and other circumstances meet the current requirements.
  2. Prepare your documents early. Do not wait until the closing day to start looking for your admission letter, JAMB result or other documents.
  3. Check your personal information. Names, dates and other details should be entered carefully.
  4. Use an active email address and phone number. These may be used to communicate with shortlisted candidates.
  5. Keep your application details. Save any confirmation message or reference information provided after submission.
  6. Use the official application portal. Be cautious of individuals asking for money or personal information in exchange for a scholarship application.
  7. Apply before the deadline. An applicant who waits until the final hours may encounter avoidable internet, document-upload or website problems.

Is The Oando Scholarship Open Every Year?

The scholarship is presented through individual application cycles, so students should not assume that a new application will automatically open on the same date every year.

If you are interested in the scholarship but the current application period has closed, you can check EducationNGR and the official scholarship channel for information about a future application cycle.

The eligibility requirements, application dates, documents and application link should be confirmed again whenever a new cycle is announced.

NNPC/Seplat Scholarship: Eligibility, Requirements and How To Apply
NNPC/Seplat Scholarship: Eligibility, Requirements and How To Apply

The NNPC/SEPLAT Joint Venture (JV) National Undergraduate Scholarship is an education support programme for eligible undergraduate students studying in federal and state universities in Nigeria.

The scholarship is part of Seplat Energy’s Corporate Social Investment activities and is intended to provide financial assistance to deserving students during their undergraduate studies.

For students interested in the programme, the important things to understand are the eligibility requirements, approved courses, documents needed, application process and selection requirements.

The application dates and some programme details can change from one scholarship cycle to another. Students should therefore confirm the current information before applying.

About The NNPC/Seplat Undergraduate Scholarship

The scholarship is offered through the NNPC/SEPLAT Joint Venture and is designed for eligible undergraduate students enrolled in Nigerian federal and state universities.

Successful applicants receive an annual scholarship grant intended to provide financial support during their degree programme, subject to the conditions of the scholarship scheme.

The programme is competitive, so meeting the minimum requirements does not automatically guarantee selection.

Who Can Apply For The NNPC/Seplat Scholarship?

Applicants must meet the eligibility conditions specified for the current scholarship cycle.

For the 2026 scholarship programme, applicants were required to:

  • Be in second year of study or above.
  • Have a minimum CGPA of 3.5.
  • Have at least five O’Level credits, including English Language and Mathematics.
  • Obtain the required O’Level credits in one sitting.
  • Be studying an approved course.
  • Be enrolled in an eligible federal or state university in Nigeria.

Students should pay particular attention to the CGPA requirement. Having a CGPA below the stated minimum means that an applicant does not meet the academic requirement for that application cycle.

Similarly, having five credits spread across more than one O’Level sitting may not satisfy the stated requirement.

Approved Courses

The scholarship is restricted to specific fields of study.

For the 2026 application cycle, the approved courses included:

  • Accountancy
  • Agriculture
  • Architecture
  • Business Administration
  • Chemical Engineering
  • Civil Engineering
  • Computer Engineering/Computer Science
  • Economics
  • Electrical/Electronic Engineering
  • Environmental Studies
  • Geology
  • Geophysics
  • Law
  • Mass Communication
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Medicine
  • Metallurgical Engineering
  • Ophthalmology/Optometry
  • Petroleum Engineering

Students whose courses are not on the approved list should not assume that they are eligible simply because they meet the CGPA and other academic requirements.

The approved course list should be checked again whenever a new application cycle is announced because scholarship conditions can be revised.

What Does The CGPA Requirement Mean?

The CGPA requirement is one of the conditions students should check before starting an application.

For the 2026 programme, applicants needed a minimum CGPA of 3.5.

This means that a student who does not meet the stated CGPA requirement may be screened out even if they satisfy the other conditions.

Students should use the grading system and academic records provided by their university when confirming their eligibility.

O’Level Requirements

Applicants are required to have at least five O’Level credits, including:

  • English Language
  • Mathematics

For the 2026 application cycle, these five credits were required to have been obtained in one sitting.

It is therefore important to check your WAEC, NECO or other accepted O’Level result before applying. Do not wait until the application stage to discover that your result does not meet the stated condition.

Which Students Are Not Eligible?

The scholarship is not designed for every undergraduate student.

A student may be ineligible if they:

  • Are below the required year of study.
  • Have a CGPA below the stated minimum.
  • Do not meet the O’Level requirements.
  • Are studying a course that is not included in the approved list.
  • Do not meet other conditions contained in the current scholarship terms and conditions.

Applicants should always read the latest eligibility requirements because the conditions for a future application cycle may differ from those published previously.

How To Apply

Applications are completed online through the designated scholarship portal.

For the 2026 scholarship cycle, eligible students were required to apply through the official Seplat Growth Academy scholarship portal:

Official application portal: Seplat Growth Academy Scholarship

The application process is free of charge.

Students should be careful when searching for scholarship information online. An applicant should not have to pay an individual or unofficial website simply to access the scholarship application form.

What You Need Before Starting Your Application

Preparing your information before opening the application form can make the process easier.

You should have access to:

  • A valid personal email address.
  • Your university and programme details.
  • Your current academic information.
  • Your O’Level result.
  • Any other information or supporting documents requested on the current application portal.

Use an email address that you check regularly. If you are shortlisted, the organisers may use the contact details provided during your application to communicate with you.

Application Dates

The application period changes from one cycle to another.

For the 2026 scholarship programme, applications opened on 23 February 2026 and closed on 13 March 2026.

These dates should not be treated as permanent dates for future applications. Students interested in the scholarship in another year should check the latest announcement and application portal for the new opening and closing dates.

What Happens After Application?

Submitting an application does not mean that every eligible student will receive the scholarship.

The programme is competitive, and applicants are subject to the selection process and the scholarship’s terms and conditions.

Only shortlisted candidates are contacted for subsequent stages.

Students should therefore keep the email address and other contact details used in their application active and check them regularly after submitting their forms.

Important Things To Check Before Applying

Before submitting your application, take a few minutes to confirm the following:

  1. Your year of study: Make sure you have reached the minimum level required for the current cycle.
  2. Your CGPA: Check your latest academic record against the stated minimum.
  3. Your course: Confirm that your programme appears on the current approved course list.
  4. Your O’Level result: Make sure you have the required credits and that they satisfy the current sitting requirement.
  5. Your university: Confirm that your institution falls within the eligible category.
  6. Your contact details: Use an email address and phone number that you can access.
  7. The deadline: Submit your application before the portal closes.
  8. The official portal: Apply through the scholarship platform designated by Seplat Energy and the NNPC/SEPLAT JV.

These checks can help prevent a student from spending time on an application for which they do not meet the basic requirements.

Ban Ki-moon Foundation Global Citizen Scholarship: Eligibility, Benefits and How To Apply
Ban Ki-moon Foundation Global Citizen Scholarship: Eligibility, Benefits and How To Apply

The Ban Ki-moon Foundation Global Citizen Scholarship Programme is an international development programme for young people who want to turn their ideas into practical projects that contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Organised by the Ban Ki-moon Foundation for a Better Future, the programme brings together young changemakers from selected countries and gives them training, mentoring and opportunities to develop projects addressing issues in their communities.

Unlike a conventional university scholarship, this programme is focused not only on academic achievement but also on leadership, global citizenship and the ability to develop a practical project linked to one or more of the SDGs.

The programme is delivered online, although selected participants also take part in an in-person summer school.

What Is The Ban Ki-moon Global Citizen Scholarship?

The Global Citizen Scholarship Programme is designed for young people who are interested in contributing to sustainable development in their communities.

Participants spend several months learning about the UN 2030 Agenda and Sustainable Development Goals, developing their knowledge of entrepreneurship for sustainable development and connecting with other young leaders from participating countries.

A major part of the programme is the development and implementation of a changemaker project.

This means that applicants should not approach the opportunity simply as a training programme. They should be able to identify a real issue they care about and explain how they could contribute to addressing it.

Who Is The Programme For?

The programme targets young global citizens between 20 and 35 years old who have demonstrated an interest in sustainable development and global citizenship.

For the current application cycle, the programme is open to citizens of selected countries in Africa, the Middle East, South Asia and Southeast Asia.

Eligible African Countries

Applicants from the following African countries are eligible:

  • Cameroon
  • Ethiopia
  • Liberia
  • Madagascar
  • Malawi
  • Mozambique
  • Nigeria
  • Sierra Leone
  • Tanzania
  • Uganda
  • Zimbabwe

Eligible Middle Eastern Countries

  • Egypt
  • Jordan
  • Kuwait
  • Lebanon
  • Oman
  • Saudi Arabia
  • United Arab Emirates

Eligible South Asian Countries

  • Bangladesh
  • Bhutan
  • India
  • Nepal
  • Pakistan
  • Sri Lanka

Eligible Southeast Asian Countries

  • Cambodia
  • Laos
  • Philippines
  • Vietnam

The country list is an important part of the eligibility requirements. If your country is not included in the current list, you should not assume that you can apply based on your age or academic qualifications alone.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must satisfy the requirements for the relevant application cycle.

For the 2026 edition, applicants were required to:

  • Be a citizen of one of the participating countries.
  • Be between 20 and 35 years old at the time of application.
  • Have completed at least a Master’s degree.
  • In exceptional cases, applicants who have completed the first year of a Master’s programme may be considered.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals and global citizenship.
  • Have at least B2-level English proficiency according to European language standards.

Meeting the academic requirement is only one part of the application. The programme is particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate a genuine interest in sustainable development and explain how they intend to create positive change.

What Does The Programme Offer?

Selected participants take part in an eight- to nine-month programme combining training, mentoring, project development and networking.

The benefits announced for the 2026 programme include:

Summer School

Participants receive full cost coverage for a two-week summer school at Management Center Innsbruck (MCI).

This provides an opportunity for participants to receive intensive training and interact with other selected changemakers.

Expert Training And Workshops

Participants take part in expert-led workshops covering areas connected with sustainable development, entrepreneurship and the implementation of their ideas.

Peer-to-Peer Mentoring

The programme includes a peer-to-peer mentoring component, allowing participants to learn from and exchange ideas with other young leaders.

Project Seed Funding

Selected scholars can receive EUR 500 in seed funding to support their changemaker project.

The funding is released after the successful submission of the required project proposal.

Applicants should therefore understand that the funding is connected to the project component of the programme rather than being simply a cash award for personal use.

Certificate Of Achievement

Participants who successfully complete the programme receive a certificate of achievement signed by Ban Ki-moon and Heinz Fischer.

What Kind Of Project Should An Applicant Have?

This is one of the most important parts of the application.

The programme is intended for young people who want to develop and implement a practical changemaker project connected to one or more Sustainable Development Goals.

For example, a project might address an issue involving education, environmental sustainability, employment, gender equality, community development, poverty reduction or another recognised SDG area.

The important point is not simply to choose an SDG because it sounds impressive. Applicants should be able to explain:

  • What problem they want to address.
  • Who is affected by the problem.
  • Which SDG or SDGs the project supports.
  • What they intend to do.
  • How the project could be implemented.
  • Who could benefit from it.
  • What resources or partnerships may be required.

A clear and realistic project idea is likely to be more useful in an application than a broad proposal that attempts to solve too many problems at once.

Documents And Information Required

The application process involves providing personal, educational and professional information as well as details about the proposed changemaker project.

For the 2026 application, applicants were required to provide or upload information including:

  • Personal details.
  • Educational background.
  • Language competence.
  • Professional information, including organisation and role where applicable.
  • Information about the proposed changemaker project.
  • The SDG or SDGs addressed by the project.
  • The proposed implementation strategy.

At the final stage, applicants were required to submit:

  • A motivational statement.
  • A recent portrait photograph in JPEG or PNG format.
  • A short introduction video of no more than 60 seconds in MP4 or MOV format.
  • Curriculum Vitae.
  • Project outline.

Applicants should prepare these materials before beginning the application, particularly the motivational statement and project outline. These sections require more thought than simply entering personal information into an online form.

How To Apply

Applications are submitted online through the programme’s designated application platform.

For the 2026 edition, applicants were directed to the official online application form:

Apply through the official Ban Ki-moon Foundation application portal

After submitting the form, applicants receive a confirmation email.

Only shortlisted candidates are contacted for the subsequent stages of the selection process.

Before submitting an application, check that the email address you provide is active and regularly monitored.

Application Deadline

For the 2026 edition, the application deadline was 4 March 2026.

Application dates should be treated as cycle-specific information. The programme may use different opening and closing dates in a future year.

If you are preparing to apply in another year, check the latest official announcement and application portal rather than relying on an old deadline.

How To Prepare A Strong Application

An applicant does not need to describe themselves as a perfect leader or claim to have solved a major social problem.

A better approach is to demonstrate a genuine understanding of a problem and explain what you have done, what you have learned and what you want to accomplish.

Before submitting your application, consider the following:

Choose a problem you understand.
Your project should be connected to an issue you have a reasonable understanding of rather than simply selecting a popular SDG.

Make the project practical.
Explain what you can realistically accomplish with the time and resources available.

Connect your project to the SDGs clearly.
Do not simply mention several SDGs. Explain the connection between your proposed activities and the goals you have selected.

Use your motivational statement to tell your story.
Explain why the issue matters to you and what motivated you to become involved.

Keep your project outline realistic.
A small project with clear objectives and measurable results can be easier to understand than an ambitious proposal with no practical implementation plan.

Check your video before submitting it.
Because the introduction video is limited to 60 seconds, plan what you want to say before recording it.

Is This A Conventional University Scholarship?

Not exactly.

Although it is described as a scholarship programme, the opportunity is structured around leadership development, sustainable development training and project implementation.

Participants are selected because of their potential as changemakers and their interest in contributing to the SDGs.

Therefore, someone looking for a scholarship that simply pays university tuition may find that this programme serves a different purpose.
