Law, Engineering, and Environmental Sciences students will resume at the School of Law and Security Studies, Iperu Campus.

  2. Proceed to your allocated room and collect your bed space.
  3. Verification of credentials and biometric capture will be held at the indoor sports facility.

ASUU Strike Update: FG’s No-Work-No-Pay Rule Kicks Off

The Federal Government has instructed vice-chancellors of all federal universities to fully apply the “no work, no pay” policy to lecturers of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) taking part in the ongoing nationwide strike.

A circular dated October 13, 2025, signed by the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, confirmed the directive.

 

 

Copies of the document were sent to several top offices, including the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, the Permanent Secretary of Education, Pro-Chancellors of federal universities, the Director-General of the Budget Office, the Accountant-General of the Federation, and the Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC).

Government Stance on the Strike

The Federal Ministry of Education expressed disappointment over the continuation of the strike, saying repeated appeals for dialogue had been ignored. It stated that the government would strictly uphold existing labour laws to maintain order in public universities.

The circular reaffirmed the government’s position:

“In line with the Labour Laws of the Federation, the Federal Government maintains that any employee who fails to perform official duties during a strike will not receive payment for that period.”

Immediate Action Required from Universities

Dr. Alausa instructed all vice-chancellors to carry out a roll call and physical headcount of academic staff in their institutions.
They must then prepare a detailed report showing which lecturers are working and which are on strike.

He also directed that salaries for staff who do not report to work during the strike should be withheld.

Exempted Academic Unions

The directive excludes members of the Congress of University Academics (CONUA) and the National Association of Medical and Dental Academics (NAMDA), as these groups are not part of the ongoing strike. Their salaries will continue to be paid in full.

Oversight and Compliance

The NUC has been asked to monitor how universities comply with this order and to present a comprehensive report to the ministry within seven days.

Dr. Alausa urged university leaders to treat the issue with urgency and responsibility, saying the matter concerns national interest.

ASUU had on Sunday announced a total and comprehensive warning strike to begin Monday, October 13.

The union’s demands include:

  • Finalising the renegotiated 2009 FGN-ASUU agreement
  • Payment of three and a half months’ withheld salaries
  • Sustainable funding and revitalisation of public universities
  • Ending the victimisation of lecturers at LASU, Prince Abubakar Audu University, and FUTO
  • Settlement of 25–35% salary arrears and promotion arrears outstanding for over four years
  • Release of withheld third-party deductions, such as cooperative contributions and union dues.

Before you start celebrating too loudly, there’s one more step that seals your admission — the SAZU Physical Screening.

Screening Dates and Venues

Before heading to campus, confirm your name on the SAZU Admission List. There’s no need to travel if you’re not yet on the list.

Third Batch

The shortlisted candidates for the third batch should note that the SAZU Physical Screening starts on Monday, 20 October 2025, and ends on Friday, 24 October 2025. Screening will take place at the respective campuses where each programme is offered.

First and Second Batches

Candidates in the first and second batches will begin screening on Monday, 8 September 2025, which closes on Monday, 22 September 2025. Each student should report to the campus where their programme is based.

Documents Required for the SAZU Physical Screening

Arrive prepared, because officials will check every document carefully. Bring the following items:

  • Printed copy of your O’Level (SSCE) result
  • JAMB Result Slip
  • Online screening form submitted earlier
  • One recent passport photograph

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved a new process requiring all prospective corps members to upload their final year thesis to NERD — the Nigerian Education Repository and Databank — before NYSC mobilisation. Starting from the 2025 Batch C stream, every graduate must complete this upload and obtain a clearance slip, which will be needed during registration at the orientation camp.

This process is now mandatory for all NYSC participants. Any graduate who does not complete the upload and verification steps may not be cleared for mobilisation.

Steps to Upload Final Year Thesis to NERD

Follow these simple steps to complete the upload and secure your clearance slip:

  1. Visit the NERD portal.
  2. Click Preliminary Upload for Thesis/Project.
  3. Run the AI Plagiarism Check and review your similarity score.
  4. Run the AI Learning Recommendation to get related study suggestions and references.
  5. Click Submit to Supervisor for Review.
  6. Your supervisor and external examiners will receive an SMS or email notification.
  7. Once reviewed, your supervisor and examiners will either approve or reject the submission.
  8. If approved, reduce your file size to 10MB or less, then click Submit.
  9. A National Document Number (NDN) and Submission Certificate will be generated.
  10. Support the databank with a small one-time contribution and print your submission certificate.

This certificate serves as proof that your thesis or final year project has been successfully uploaded and verified in the NERD database.
