The management of Federal University of Technology Minna (FUTMINNA) has announced the commencement of applications for its 2025/2026 postgraduate programmes.

General Admission Requirements

PhD Programmes

Applicants must:

• Hold a Master’s degree from Federal University of Technology Minna or any recognised university

• Have a minimum of 60% or CGPA of 3.50 (5-point scale)

• Meet any additional departmental requirements where applicable

Master’s Degree Programmes

Applicants must possess one of the following:

• Second Class Honours (Lower Division) degree

• Third Class Honours degree with at least 2 years post-graduation experience

• HND (Lower Credit) plus PGD (Lower Credit) with 1 year experience

Some candidates may be required to sit for a qualifying examination (₦2,000 fee applies).

MPhil/PhD Programmes

Applicants must:

• Hold a relevant Master’s degree

• Have a minimum CGPA of 2.50

Candidates who do not meet the PhD CGPA requirement (3.50) may be considered for MPhil/PhD.

Additional notes:

• Professional Master’s degree holders are not eligible

• Applicants from non-English speaking countries must provide proof of English proficiency

• Three referee reports are required

Postgraduate Diploma (PGD)

Eligible candidates include those with:

• Third Class Honours degree

• HND (Lower Credit)

• OND (Lower Credit) with 1 year experience

Important Admission Notes

• NYSC discharge, exemption, or exclusion certificate is required

• Candidates with PASS grade at any level are not eligible

• Diploma holders must have at least CGPA 2.50 for Master’s admission

• Final admission decisions rest with the Postgraduate School Board

• Master’s programmes involve coursework, research, and thesis defence

PhD

• Full-time: 6–10 semesters

• Part-time: 10–14 semesters

MPhil/PhD

• 2–4 semesters (full-time only)

Master’s Degree

• 3–6 semesters (full-time only)

• Minimum CGPA of 2.50 must be maintained

Postgraduate Diploma

• 3–6 semesters

• Minimum CGPA of 1.50 required
