UNILORIN Postgraduate Admission Form 2026/2027 Released

The management of University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) has announced the commencement of applications for its 2026/2027 postgraduate admission.

EducationNGR gathered that the admission exercise covers PhD, MPhil/PhD, MPhil, Master’s, and Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) programmes. Applicants are advised to carefully read all instructions before applying, as errors during application may affect admission chances.

Important Application Notice

Applicants are required to:

  • Select only courses listed for the session

  • Print and study the admission advert before applying

  • Ensure all entries are accurate

The university stated that it will not be responsible for mistakes made during the application process.

The postgraduate academic session runs for 12 calendar months, from 2 October to 30 September of the following year, beginning from the date of first registration.

Available Postgraduate Programmes

PhD Degree Programmes

Eligible candidates must possess:

  • M.A, M.Ed, M.Eng, M.Sc, LL.M, or M.P.H

  • Minimum of 60% or CGPA of 4.0 (5-point scale)

Duration:

  • Full-time: 36–60 months

  • Part-time: 48–72 months

A thesis is required at the end of the programme.

MPhil/PhD Programmes

Candidates with:

  • 55.00% – 59.99% or CGPA of 3.50 – 3.99

Duration:

  • 12–24 months (full-time only)

Candidates may upgrade to PhD after meeting performance requirements.

MPhil Programmes

Candidates with:

  • 50.00% – 54.99% or CGPA of 3.00 – 3.49

Duration:

  • 18–24 months (full-time)

A dissertation is required.

Master’s Degree Programmes

Programmes include:

  • M.A, M.Ed, M.Eng, M.Sc, LL.M, M.P.H

Duration:

  • Full-time: 18–24 months

  • Part-time: 36–48 months

All programmes involve coursework and dissertation.

Postgraduate Diploma (PGD)

Available to candidates with Third Class degrees.

General Admission Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Possess all required academic certificates before applying

  • Have NYSC discharge or exemption certificate dated on or before 30 September, 2026

  • Have five O’Level credit passes, including English and Mathematics (maximum of two sittings)

  • Complete application online and upload scanned credentials

Transcript And Document Submission

After completing the online application, candidates must submit:

  • Hard copy of application form

  • Supporting documents

Additional Requirements

  • PhD applicants must attend departmental interviews

  • Full-time applicants must present a letter of release from employers

  • PGD and Master’s applicants will sit for a qualifying exam (with some exemptions)
