History of the Institution

Federal University Gashua (FUGASHUA) is a federal university established by the Federal Government of Nigeria in 2013 as part of a national initiative to expand access to higher education and promote development in underserved regions.

The university is located in Gashua, Yobe State, and was among the twelve new federal universities created to ensure that every state in Nigeria has at least one federal university.

FUGASHUA was established with a focus on providing quality education in agriculture, science, humanities, management, and social sciences while supporting research and innovation relevant to the socio-economic development of the region. The institution began academic activities in 2014 with a small number of programmes and has since expanded its faculties and departments.

Admission Requirements

Undergraduate Admission

Candidates must sit for the UTME conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
Applicants must possess at least five O’Level credits including English Language and Mathematics and other relevant subjects.
Candidates must select Federal University Gashua as their preferred institution during UTME registration or apply for a change of institution through JAMB.
Applicants must participate in the Post-UTME screening exercise conducted by the university.

Direct Entry Admission

Candidates with ND, NCE, IJMB, or equivalent qualifications may apply through the JAMB Direct Entry admission process.
