Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike, Ikwo (AE-FUNAI), commonly known as FUNAI, is a federal university established by the Federal Government of Nigeria in 2011. The institution was originally known as Federal University Ndufu-Alike Ikwo before it was renamed in 2018 in honour of Dr. Alex Ekwueme, Nigeria’s first elected Vice President of the Second Republic. The university was created to expand access to higher education and promote research, innovation, and academic development in Nigeria.

Since its establishment, FUNAI has grown rapidly with multiple faculties, research centres, and professional programmes designed to train graduates in sciences, engineering, humanities, social sciences, and health-related fields.

AE-FUNAI Supplementary Admission 2026/2027

Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike (AE-FUNAI) has approved supplementary admission for the 2026/2027 academic session for candidates who applied to the university but have not yet received an admission offer. Eligible candidates must have scored at least 150 in JAMB UTME, meet the UTME and O’Level subject requirements for their chosen programme, and make a change of course on JAMB CAPS to the advertised programme. Candidates who did not register for the AE-FUNAI Post-UTME may still apply, provided they meet the other conditions.

The supplementary admission covers programmes in Agriculture, Basic Medical Sciences, Education, Environmental Sciences, Arts, Management Sciences, Biological Sciences, Physical Sciences and Social Sciences. Minimum screening scores are generally 150, while some programmes, including Anatomy, Physiology and Biochemistry, require 160. Candidates should check the programme-specific JAMB UTME and O’Level requirements on the AE-FUNAI website before making their choice. The supplementary admission processing fee is N5,000.

Applications are made through apply.funai.edu.ng. Candidates should validate their JAMB registration number, provide a valid email address and phone number, verify the email with the OTP received, transfer the full N5,000 fee to the account provided and select I have made payment after completing the transfer. The application deadline is Friday, 25 September 2026, with no extension stated. Direct Entry Admission

Candidates with advanced qualifications such as ND, NCE, HND, IJMB, or equivalent may apply for admission through the JAMB Direct Entry process into appropriate levels of study.

Postgraduate Admission

Postgraduate programmes (PGD, MSc, and PhD) are offered in several academic departments. Applicants must possess relevant bachelor’s degrees and meet departmental CGPA requirements.

School Fees

The last known school fees for undergraduate students vary depending on programme and faculty. For many courses, fees range approximately from ₦157,250 to ₦330,500 for fresh students depending on the programme. Acceptance fee is about ₦41,000 – ₦51,000 depending on the course.

Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike (AE-FUNAI), Ebonyi State, has extended the application deadline for its 2026/2027 Supplementary UTME Admission Screening Exercise.

The new deadline is Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at 12:59 a.m. Prospective candidates who are yet to apply or complete their registration are advised to access the university’s official portal and finalise their applications before the closing time.

Applicants are also advised to carefully review their application details, particularly their O’Level results and UTME subject combinations, and ensure that the information submitted is accurate and corresponds with their credentials.
