History of the Institution

Delta State University of Science and Technology, Ozoro originated from the former Delta State Polytechnic, Ozoro, which had served as a major technical institution in Delta State for many years. In 2021, the Delta State Government approved its conversion into a university as part of an educational reform aimed at expanding access to higher-level scientific and technological education.

The transformation marked a significant shift from polytechnic-based diploma training to full university degree programmes accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC). This upgrade allowed the institution to introduce expanded academic faculties, research-oriented programmes, and postgraduate development pathways in the future.

Since its conversion, DSUST has continued to expand its academic structure, infrastructure, and digital learning systems. The institution now operates multiple faculties including Engineering, Computing, Sciences, Agriculture, Environmental Sciences, and Management Technology, offering a wide range of degree programmes designed to meet modern industrial and technological needs.

The university also strengthened its administrative systems through an online portal for admissions, academic records, and student services, making it more digitally accessible to applicants and students.
