History of the Institution
The Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) is one of Nigeria’s leading universities of technology. It was established in 1981 by the Federal Government of Nigeria as part of a national initiative to create specialized universities focused on science and technology education.
FUTA was founded to promote technological advancement, research, and innovation while producing skilled professionals in engineering, science, and technology-related fields. The university began academic activities in 1982 with a small number of programmes and has since expanded significantly.
Today, FUTA is recognized as one of the top technology universities in Nigeria, offering undergraduate and postgraduate programmes across several faculties including engineering, environmental technology, agriculture, and computing.

Candidates must sit for the UTME conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

Applicants must obtain five O’Level credits including English Language and Mathematics and other relevant subjects for their chosen programme.
