History of the Institution
The University of Abuja began academic activities in 1990 at a temporary “mini-campus” consisting of three buildings originally intended for a primary school in Gwagwalada. It was later allocated over 11,800 hectares of land along the Abuja City Airport Road for its permanent campus, with relocation continuing over the years. The permanent campus now includes three female and two male hostels accommodating thousands of students, while the university’s distance learning offices and contact sessions are located in Area 3, Garki, within Abuja municipality.
