Vacancy 1: Registrar

Role Summary

The Registrar is the Chief Administrative Officer of the University and is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day-to-day administration of University affairs, excluding financial matters. The Registrar also serves as Secretary to the Governing Council, Senate, and Convocation.

Eligibility and Requirements

Applicants for the position of Registrar must possess:

  • A good honours degree (minimum of Second Class Lower) from a recognised university

  • At least 15 years of relevant post-qualification experience

  • Higher degrees, professional qualifications, and membership of relevant professional bodies will be added advantages

In addition, candidates must:

  • Not be below the rank of Deputy Registrar and must have spent at least three (3) years in that rank at a recognised university

  • Not be more than 60 years of age at the time of assumption of duty

  • Demonstrate strong leadership, management ability, and interpersonal skills

  • Show capacity for mentorship and team leadership

  • Possess high personal integrity, transparency, and credibility

  • Be computer-literate with good knowledge of modern administrative practices

  • Be in sound physical and mental health

Tenure and Conditions of Service

The Registrar shall hold office for a single term of five (5) years only. Conditions of service and remuneration shall be in accordance with those applicable to Registrars in public universities in Nigeria, as determined by the Edo State Government and/or the Governing Council.

Vacancy 2: Bursar

Role Summary

The Bursar is the Chief Financial Officer of the University and is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the management and control of the University’s finances.

Key Responsibilities

The Bursar is expected to:

  • Advise the Vice-Chancellor on all financial matters

  • Coordinate the preparation and review of financial management plans

  • Supervise income and expenditure statements, balance sheets, and cash flow estimates

  • Ensure proper records of University assets and liabilities

  • Monitor budget performance and ensure financial accountability

  • Oversee treasury operations and cash flow forecasting

  • Liaise with financial institutions and government agencies

  • Manage the Bursary Department effectively

Eligibility and Requirements

Applicants for the position of Bursar must have:

  • A good honours degree (minimum of Second Class Lower) in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline

  • At least 15 years of relevant post-qualification experience in a university setting

  • A higher degree will be an added advantage

Professional qualifications required include:

  • Membership of ICAN or ANAN

  • Possession of recognised accountancy qualifications such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA, or equivalent

  • Fellowship status is an added advantage

Candidates must also:

  • Not be below the rank of Deputy Bursar (or equivalent) with at least three (3) years in that position

  • Be proficient in accounting software and ICT tools

  • Demonstrate integrity, transparency, and strong financial management skills

  • Show leadership capacity, vision, and readiness to drive the University’s financial goals

  • Be computer-literate and in good physical and mental health

  • Not be more than 60 years of age at the time of appointment

Tenure and Conditions of Service

The Bursar shall serve for a single term of five (5) years only. Remuneration and conditions of service shall follow what is obtainable in public universities in Nigeria, as approved by the State Government and/or the Governing Council.
