List Of Universities Approved For LL.B Admission In 2026 – Law School

The Council of Legal Education, which oversees the Nigerian Law School, has released an official public notice listing universities approved to admit students into the Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) programme in Nigeria for 2026.

The notice was directed to the general public, prospective students, parents, guardians and other stakeholders in the education sector.

EducationNGR gathered that only universities accredited by the Council of Legal Education are authorised to admit students into the LL.B programme in Nigeria.

Warning To Universities And Prospective Students

According to the council, any university that admits students into a Law programme without proper accreditation is violating the regulations governing legal education in the country.

The council also warned that such institutions may face sanctions under existing policies and regulations.

More importantly, students who enrol in Law programmes at universities not accredited by the Council of Legal Education will not be eligible for admission into the Nigerian Law School, which is mandatory for becoming a practising lawyer in Nigeria.

Approved Universities For LL.B Admission In Nigeria (2026)

The Council published a comprehensive list of universities authorised to offer the LL.B programme.

Some of the approved institutions include:

• University of Ibadan

• University of Lagos

• University of Nigeria Nsukka

• Obafemi Awolowo University

• Ahmadu Bello University

• University of Benin

• University of Ilorin

• University of Port Harcourt

• University of Uyo

• Nnamdi Azikiwe University

• Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University

• Lagos State University

• Kwara State University

• Redeemer’s University

• Babcock University

In total, over 100 universities across federal, state and private institutions were listed as approved to admit students into the LL.B programme.

The council advised prospective law students to verify the accreditation status of any university before accepting admission.

Universities With Admission Moratorium

The notice also listed some universities that currently have admission moratoriums for their Law programmes.

Baze University, Abuja

Baze University has a three-year admission moratorium covering the 2023/2024 to 2025/2026 academic sessions.

Lead City University, Ibadan

Lead City University has a five-year admission moratorium from the 2023/2024 to 2027/2028 academic sessions.

Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil

Nigeria Police Academy Wudil has a two-year admission moratorium covering the 2024/2025 to 2025/2026 academic sessions.

Students are advised to take note of these restrictions when applying for admission into Law programmes.

Council Says List May Be Updated

The Council of Legal Education noted that the list may be updated periodically as part of its statutory responsibility to regulate legal education and maintain academic standards across Nigerian universities.
