History of the Institution
The Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun (FUPRE) is Nigeria’s first petroleum university and one of the few specialized universities in Africa dedicated to petroleum and energy studies. The university was established in 2007 by the Federal Government of Nigeria to build capacity and develop expertise for the country’s oil and gas industry.
FUPRE was created to produce skilled manpower for the petroleum sector and to serve as a centre for advanced research and innovation in energy technologies. The institution began academic activities in 2008 with a small number of programmes and has since expanded to offer various undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in engineering, science, environmental studies, and management related to the energy industry.

Admission Requirements
Undergraduate Admission

Candidates must sit for the UTME conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

Applicants must obtain at least five O’Level credits including English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and another relevant subject depending on the programme.

Candidates must select Federal University of Petroleum Resources Effurun as their preferred institution during UTME registration or apply for a change of institution through JAMB.

Applicants must participate in the Post-UTME screening exercise conducted by the university.
