History of the Institution
The Federal University of Health Sciences, Otukpo (FUHSO) is a specialized federal university established by the Federal Government of Nigeria in 2021 to strengthen medical and health sciences education in the country.
The institution was created to train highly skilled professionals in medicine and allied health sciences while improving healthcare research and medical education in Nigeria. FUHSO was among the new federal universities of health sciences created to address the shortage of healthcare professionals and enhance healthcare delivery nationwide.
Since its establishment, the university has focused on developing academic programmes in medicine, nursing, laboratory sciences, and other health-related disciplines.
