The Enugu State Scholarship and Education Loans Board, under the office of the Honourable Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ndubueze Mbah, has announced the opening of applications for the 2025 Scholarship Awards. EducationNGR gathered that the initiative was graciously approved by His Excellency, Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, as part of ongoing efforts to support educational advancement across the state.
The Board is inviting all eligible indigenes of Enugu State to apply for the available scholarship categories, which cover undergraduate, postgraduate, and teachers’ development programmes.
Available Scholarship Categories
- Undergraduate Scholarship: 500 slots strictly for 100- and 200-level students in accredited tertiary institutions across Nigeria.
- Teachers’ Scholarship: 1,000 slots for indigenous teachers working in Enugu State Government schools who wish to pursue a master’s degree. Beneficiaries must commit to teaching in the state for 10 years after completing their programme.
- Postgraduate Scholarship: 100 slots for master’s and PhD programmes in Nigerian universities.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
- Be confirmed indigenes of Enugu State.
- Possess a valid admission letter for undergraduate or postgraduate studies.
- For teachers: provide proof of employment and valid admission for the 2025/2026 session.

- Letter of Acceptance
- Attestation Letter from the Traditional Ruler (HRH)
- For teachers: Employment Letter (in addition to the above)
- Passport Photograph
How to Apply
Interested applicants should visit apply.esselb.en.gov.ng and select one scholarship category:
- Undergraduate Scholarship
- Teachers’ Scholarship
- Postgraduate Scholarship
Applicants are required to upload all documents in one PDF file (max 2MB) before submitting.
Application Timeline
- Applications open: 14 November 2025
- Deadline for undergraduate and postgraduate applicants: 12:00 a.m., 28 November 2025
- Deadline for teachers’ applications: 8 December 2025
The Board further confirmed that the scholarship examination will be held as an online CBT, allowing candidates to participate from any location. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted, and applicants are advised to ensure stable internet connectivity during the exam.
Visually impaired 100- and 200-level students are also eligible to apply.
